Ok boys, grab a cup of coffee (I’m wrapping up another awesome cup of Tree House coffee thanks to @Nichols33 ) & sit down, this is going to take a while. Wow, there are no words to describe the 2 boxes (total over 40 lbs) that @Buck89 dropped on me last night but I’ll try anyways.

    KILL SHOT!
This took me so long to unpack, pick my jaw up off the floor and make notes on all of these.
Lets start with the swag, food items & blind beer:
FOOD: I am a sucker for chocolate so all 3 of these look amazing.
SWAG: I saw @Vidblain post this Bearded Iris glass the other day and “that’s sweet” was what I immediately thought. I love the retro 80’s style font, reminds me of Stranger Things. This glass will get a lot of use! And both of these stickers are already on my beer fridge.
BLIND BEER: less than 14%, great…so you’re saying this is a 13.9% brew. It’s in the fridge and I will hopefully have late tonight after a dinner date with my girls.

Ok, on to the other 16 cans!
-NEW HEIGHTS: (new brewery to me) Navel Gazer.
-TRIMTAB: (I believe that I’ve only had 1 from here) Animated Nature double IPA, Breakfast Hero imperial doughnut stout, Imperial Euphoria Now passion fruit & guava berliner weisse.
-BEARDED IRIS: (have only had 2 from them so far) Vigilante kveik IPA, Chasing Rainbows IPA, Mood Ring w/strawberries double IPA, Fresh on Fresh wet hop IPA, Abstraction IPA, Jet Set double IPA, Quiet Riot fruited gose, Triple Homestyle triple IPA.
-SOUTHERN GRIST: (new brewery to me and only heard their name through this BIF round when someone mentioned them) Hill imperial vanilla black currant boysenberry sour…YES SIR this sounds great, DDH Noise Pollution IPA, Batida cocktail sour sounds great!, Always Leave a Note sour.

    On to the 8 bottles:
-SOUTHERN GRIST: Reboog Roadtrip, yeah this does sounds like a trip, part stout part mead!
-SOUTHERN GRIST: Vanillionaire stout w/vanilla beans!
-SOUTHERN GRIST: BA Moves Like Jaggery colab w/J. Wakefield wow this sounds awesome.
-SOUTHERN GRIST: Pebbles & Puffs imperial stout conditioned on 2 types of chocolate cereal. Wish I could take this to work to start off my day!
-SOUTHERN GRIST: Batch One Theory Bourbon Barrel Aged German Chocolate Cake, wow this sounds incredible.
-NEW HEIGHTS: BA Belgian Tripel, I think I’ve only tried this style once so bring it on, sounds great.
-SIDE PROJECT: Smooth-I’ve heard of this one and it would definitely be on my wish list if I really kept one up. I’ve only had 1 SP and it was a colab that Jackie O’s brewed. Sitting on a bottle of Merci I think but really looking forward to this one!
-BOTTLE LOGIC: The Lost Colony, I had a bottle of this last year that I traded and later had “traders remorse”. I love rum barrel aged stouts so this is going to be great.

John you really overdid it here. The generosity of this group is amazing! And what the heck is with your note “I hope you enjoy round 1”? I really appreciate your thought in these boxes, I’m going to really enjoy every one. Cheers

So last night while I had all my beer laid out on the table, my wife walked in the room. Before this round started I warned her I was probably going to get “a shitload of beer.” She rolled her eyes and said ok. Last night when she walked in, she said “you weren’t kidding, these guys are professionals.” I said yea, this is the “not fucking around crew.”

then she said I didn’t need to buy any beer this weekend when we go to Nashville. And we both had a good laugh about that.

Right?! I had a ton of really bad Mobcraft beers before giving up on them entirely. They even sent me a message inviting me to come tour the facility and try some new beers, etc. Maybe now's the time to take them up on that? O'so just seems really hit or miss. Tons of weird fruited sours that really appeal to me, but rarely deliver - their tap room is a fun stop though. So many cool guest taps.

Amazing boxes dropping - good lord @Dragginballs76 and @Buck89 , insane hauls there. Nice hits!

There was only one Mobcraft beer I've had that I thought was any good - Batsh!t Crazy. Maybe I'll also have to look at them again the next time I cross the river.

    Also, that's one hell of a hit @Buck89 !!!!

Based on the bottle shape beside the BA Behemoth last night I’m thinking it’s from 3F. I left this in the fridge overnight, but I let it sit out for 15-20 minutes before pouring.
Appearance is the most beautiful opaque caramel color with about a finger and a half of light tan head which lasted about 1 minute. Based on the pour I’m thinking barleywine (awesome!) or old ale. While cold, I’m immediately picking up some bourbon on the nose (awesome!) as it warms I’m getting caramel, dark fruits, and molasses and I’m ready to dive in head first. On first taste, I’m falling in love. Now I’m thinking BA barleywine, BA old ale, or a new contender BA Belgian Quad. It’s SOOOO SWEET but in the best way. Never overly sweet. Caramel and molasses are the prominent players in the taste with the fruits playing in the background and the bourbon making itself known in the finish but not overpowering at all, just a great compliment. Mouthfeel is on the medium side of full, slick, a little sticky, and somewhat drying with spot on carbonation. The bourbon lingers on the finish and warms on the way down the gullet. Overall this is a fantastically awesome beer and I’m in love with it, whatever it is. My guess is going to be BA barleywine. And since Dan sent me the one year BA behemoth unwrapped I’m going to guess this is 2 year or willet BA behemoth. Reveal to come at halftime of the game... stay tuned

Whaaaaaat? I'm going to see The D tonight with one of our brewers! I sent you my number in a DM. The only Dallas brewery that I think is really worth visiting right now would be Celestial. I always feel a little embarrassed about the lack of exciting beer stuff in DFW. There are other popular breweries like Deep Ellum (which is very close to the concert venue), Community, Peticolas, and you could totally have a good time at any one of them but just don't expect hip styles or to be blown away by anything. Braindead is also close to the concert and they usually have an ok selection of beers on tap but I would skip most of their own brews. There are plenty of beer bars around with decent selections like Craft and Growler, On Rotation, Craft Beer Cellar, LUCK, etc, that might be the best way to taste a broad selection of Texas stuff.

Also, NBD on repeats! It seems like we might have some overlap on distro beers which makes it super difficult!
