SAVAGES (v2) Hints/Hauls

Well, I was pretty close...a German smoked lager. Definitely haven’t tried this one before. Glad I could try this really interesting beer. But I won’t be hunting these down anytime soon. Thanks @Buck89 now on to one of your IPA’s!

Working on my blind beer from @Buck89 - definitely looks below the 13.9% point advertised!



Loving this glass, by the way - like @Snrubnivek noted, it instantly made me think of Stranger Things, which is probably my favorite thing to happen on Netflix.

Interesting blind beer: orange gold pour without a very distinct nose. Very light white head and no discernible haze or hop odor makes me think this is likely a sour of some sort - probably a gose or a berliner? It doesn't seem to be very heavily fruited, based on the indistinct nose, but this may be the fault of my fall allergies. The leaves are falling like crazy now, and I can't stop sneezing - time to leave for Florida, I think.

On first taste, it's actually quite fruity - maybe even tropical (is that pineapple?), but it's not just sour or fruity. I think this is a gose as it's also a bit salty. The saltiness is sort of aggressive, which is interesting - I don't remember a gose like this, so I'm sort of clueless as to the brewery or specific beer. I'm enjoying it, mystery and all - it's got nice body, even for what seems to be a lighter beer. The taste lingers some, that salty thing. If I didn't know better, I'd say it's spiced somehow, but I think that's probably incorrect.

I LOVE smoked beers. Of their smoked beers it's the lowest rated one I've had.

 

It looks like I wasn't too far off, but didn't really nail it - not familiar enough with the brewery, but liking their work so far!

This was a fun one - I guess the saltiness is accentuated by the jalapeño and gives it a little more aggressiveness. I like it! I wouldn't mind crushing on a fishing trip or on the beach.
