Never got a mint hit from any beer I’ve ever had. I’ve had a few Hefes that tasted like they were brewed with Double Bubble which I didn’t like, and from some Belgian styles I get a nasty sweat socks kinda hit. Could be the mint was a combo of hops kinda thing, you start brewing with 5 hop combos and dry hopping with others anything is possible. Age changes flavors as well.

Mint is a descriptor for Northern Brewer and Perle Hops.

Polaris has a big Wintergreen menthol note.

I have gotten mint flavor in beers before.

I've noticed this a few times, and it's in very fresh, from the keg beers at the place of production. Could be a fusel oil put out by a certain yeast strain. I hope it's not this, but using sorbate definitely imbues minty/candy cane flavors (used sometimes by amateurs but I hope never by pros).

I get bubble gum a lot, which I do like when I notice it, in Hefeweizens as you say, and also in some APAs and IPAs.

Someone has to have made a Shamrock Shake IPA out there, right?

Completely unrelated... but I just watched the episode of Ken Burn’s “Country Music” last night that had a segment on Kris Kristofferson and this song.

The series is special to me. I watched it with my 87 year old father. He grew up in east Alabama, no electricity until 1940, they were one of those families who listened to a radio connected to a truck battery. He has dementia now, but remembered every song, singer, band, and radio station (up until the last couple of episodes) as clear as a bell.

Bubblegum notes typically come from the yeast, though some hops can taste like fruit stripe gum or juicy fruit.
