Munich Trip - September - Oktoberfest

Prior to the start of The Fest you could hit up Bamberg and Nürnberg, or...... the latter has a nice Altstadtfest going on through 23SEP...

For clothes, at least buy a shirt as you can wear that anywhere. The linen shirts are very nice. Look for buttons made from horn, not plastic.
Shoes are a good second and can be found with a Vibram sole. Nice ones are 150€ and up but real leather and very well made.
Prices go up this time of year.
Single rooms are easier to find. I’ve had last minute luck by the market.

 

I went recently on the first Monday and Tuesday.
Early in the day. No problem getting in. My avatar is from the Hacker-Pschorr tent. Himmel in Bayern. Heaven in Bavaria.
I can’t stress enough how much I enjoyed it. Truly, heaven.
I did not know the smaller tents also serve beer.
I can’t wait to go back and go in the evening. Supposedly the music picks up and the party really gets going.
A festival for no other reason to just enjoy life.
Life is good.
