The first couple of days from @beermanben Day 1A: Day 1B: 2A: Day 2B: All 4 of these have been really good. Both the stouts were wants and both the sours were excellent. Thanks Ben!
Before I reveal Day 2, I have to say a big thank you to a couple of Newbies for sending some tasty brews down South... First up is the Cincy assassin @Jackd33 ... clearly the hop pipeline runs through Southern Ohio Thanks Jon! Next up, some of Wisconsin's finest including dat Newbie opener thanks to @azuelke ... Now for Day 2 courtesy of @jschott75 Tart and tasty sour with lots of stone fruit notes and the perfect candy pairing Thanks Jim! Surprised to find this had no fruit added...Side Project with some amazing sours!
Time to catch up from the weekend. Day 1 from @bum4ever along with some of California’s finest chocolate. This one is thiiiccc and roasty with dark fruits, chocolate, cinnamon, and some pepper heat that creeps up as you drink. I think it’s barrel aged as there is some light barrel character. Really Delicious! I have no ideas for a guess. Day 1 Reveal: The reveal. Civil Society Banditos De Fuego. @Bum4ever going with Florida beer for day 1 and keeping me on my toes. Day 2: I was still hurting on day 2 from the chocolate I had on day 1 so I was happy to see a light refreshing sour. Really tasty golden sour! I think this has peaches or some sort of stone fruit. Cap has a on it which completely throws me off. I don’t have a guess but I like this. Day 2 Reveal: Plan B “COmb”. Coolship blended wild ale with no fruit. Definitely throws stonefruit, lemon, and tart apple. Thanks @bum4ever! I don't know why I didn't think about plan B. Probably because it also is from all the way across the US from you. Thanks! I enjoyed this as well.
Sorry for the delay in posting @LarkinW Works been freakin crazy lately... Day 1 Day 1 Reveal : Boiler Brewing ThiNilla! Outstanding! 2a paired with some sour alpacas. Wow this was Delicious! Monkish Armored Dilla! Day 2b Another Monkish! This one Fly Flow Flipped! What a great start! Thanks @LarkinW!
Day 2 from @bl00 Slightly sour, heavily fruited sour IPA. Cumulonimbus by Crooked Run Brewing. Easy drinking from a new brewery to me. Thanks Dan
Day 3 from @Elneenee definitely a bourbon barrel stout. Not getting any adjuncts.. no clue where it's from, but it's really nice! XX-Central Waters! Had several of the anniversary ones, but not this one. Awesome new tick! They always nail the bourbon barrel stouts. Nice change of pace from all the pastry, adjuncts stouts nowadays. Thanks @Elneenee
Day 1 from @brewnic came from a black waxed large format. Poured dark with little head. Pretty thin, wasn’t able to pick much out with this one? Candy was excellent! New brewery, couldn’t quite get into this one though.
Day 2 from @brewnic poured thick with a big chocolate nose. No discernible barrel. Big MF, lots of chocolate, floaties in there. Candy was spot on too. Pudding Goggles, great brew right there. Candy pairing was restaurant quality! Really nice
Day 3 has a Veil cap and pours thick with tons of coconut floaties. There’s some other sweetness in there that I can’t quite place. I’m not that familiar with Veil stouts, so maybe some Sleeping Forever variant? Pineapple, honey, coconut, and vanilla. The pineapple really comes through when it’s warmer. Really interesting and works better than I’d expect, don’t think I’ve ever had a pineapple stout. Thanks @Sturgeon83 !
Day 3. Not sure if I mixed up the tape on Day 3 and Day 4 but this one pours dark. Initial nose was pickle/infected so I let it warm up and breathe. the reveal was a tasty sounding Darkness variant, right up my alley with the rum barrel and coconut but this one has taken a turn for the worse. The biscotti was tasty! And coincidentally went ok with the twang
Day 3 thanks to @jschott75 Bourbon barrel and maple, nicely complimented by the maple almond snickers Werk Force BA Maple Bear Thanks Jim for the new beer and candy ticks!
Before I get caught up on my day beers, there was one more box that landed last week, unexpectedly. After numerous threats of return fire from @MunsonRoyE and I told him it was unnecessary every time, he finally snuck this doozy onto my porch. Not only are there some killer sounding Burial, a vintage Lindley Park, but a blind Halloween #chugs and a couple tasty sounding others as well! Thanks again man, completely uncalled for!
Day 1A, perfectly pair with some Starbursts, brought one hell of a juicy DIPA. I've seen this can being popped by others recently, so with the little bit of can that wasn't concealed, I knew what it was right away! Duende from Creature Comforts! I've had this beer in the past, and loved it then, but they have done some tinkering with the recipe and have somehow made it better than the first time I was able to have it. Thanks @winehead247 Day 1B, same deal as 1A, but this time a #chugs. I've had this beer on numerous occasions, and the little bit of can that was still visible was a dead giveaway... Always a treat to get a little Tropicaalia in my life. Thanks again @winehead247
Day 2 from @winehead247 brought a corked and cage 750ml classic. There was no way to conceal the cork, and the markings were a dead giveaway of what was in store. After pouring, it was obvious that is a beer looks like a geuze, smells like a geuze, and tastes like a geuze... Then it must be a geuze! A 17/18 Oude Geuze from 3F, paired nicely with Skittles. And even better, my wife wanted nothing to do with this beer, so I got to dome the entire bottle myself! Thanks again Blake!
Straight from the fridge, Day 3 was sending off a non-adjunct BA stout vibe, which went extremely well with both the M&Ms and chocolate Twix. As it warmed up, I was getting a slight hint of what I though was vanilla... Overnight Celebrity from Monday Night Brewing, a maple bourbon barrel aged imperial porter, with espresso beans and coconut. After the reveal and knowing what it was, I could pick up a little on coffee, and coconut as I finished it, but sadly the maple had faded. Even with that being said, this beer was tasty the way it was. Thanks again Blake!
And what week wouldn't be complete without another bomb from @locoformavs There couldn't have been a better day for this bad boy to land, such a great way to start the week. Thanks again boo
Day 2 - Southern Grist Performances of Passion - Very tasty raspberry and passionfruit. Not as heavy as the picture would suggest. Starburst was a nice choice for this (even my dog stole one when i wasn't looking) Day 3 - Southern Grist - Chop It Up - Coconut Brown Ale - Coconut was heavy in the nose, but light in the taste as the brown ale seemed to cover it up. Hazelnut and chocolate flavors came on as this warmed. Thanks @byrdpickem for some tasty Nashville brews!
Return for the OH Hops I sent to @Greeny87 (4 new ticks, 2 new breweries) Big Papi, Side Car and Chocolate Gateau from Commonwealth Brewing Company Berries N' Cream - Cannon and Draw
Day 4 is something from West 6th and it’s all barrel, coconut, and chocolate. I’m pretty sure this is German Chocolate Snake Cake, and it’s freaking delicious. Yup, I was actually right! This was great, thanks @Sturgeon83 ! I’ve been wanting to try this.
