This years Broo Doo is amazing! I found previous years versions to smell absolutely amazing but lack a bit in taste. This year, the pine and bitterness lingers for awhile and I love it.I'm going to have to pick up some more of this.

This explains why all three beer shops I visited yesterday had a huge stack of ZD bottle cases.

Have any of you taken kids (yours hopefully) to the brewpub or seen many there? Thinking of stopping between chicago and south bend either Friday or Sunday lunchtime or early afternoon. They are 10/12 and have put up with plenty of my side trips before. Sounds like the food is good and would rather do that than some other random spot if I can pull it off.

Yes, kids are allowed but no, I’ve not seen many there in the years I’ve been going. They can, and often do, play loud metal music and/or horror movies on the TV. Not the friendliest kid environment. But the food is quite good indeed.

Kids are tolerated but not encouraged there.

Unfortunately when kids come in and they're playing Reservoir Dogs on the TV and heavy metal in the background, they have, at least when I'm there, toned down the music and put cartoons on. Sucks for the rest of us.

Go listen to 5 heavy metal songs. If you want to explain to your kid what is going on in those songs, go for it.

Obviously don't know your specific kids but I think you'll be fine. The wife and I have brought our significantly younger kids (oldest is 6 now but was probably around 3 when we first brought her) several times, with terrified yet hilarious Sharktopus related questions on one ride home being the only "negative."

Agreed with the above poster. It is easier to bring kids here than most breweries because it is a full restaurant. Get a table, eat a nice dinner, drink some amazing beers. I have brought my young kids plenty of times and NEVER had an issue. In fact, my son is always asking when we can go back to "Three Floydzes".

I bought my kids (ages 6 and 13 at the time) this past spring at it was fine. My youngest actually really enjoyed it. We're probably going again this weekend as my oldest has an event in Munster.

Damn, they sell kids now too? That some kind of private sale prior to DLD?

I'll add on to the chorus about taking kids. I took my 8 and 6 year old back in March and it was perfectly fine. However, I try to make smart choices when taking kids to spots like that, and we were there by 11:30 for lunch. So, it wasn't crazy or crowded. Pretty sure they were playing one of the Indiana Jones movies when we went in there, so we ended up watching one or two of the movies at home that weekend.

It's definitely not a "kids encouraged" place, but it's fine to take them...at the right time.

I've been taking my daughter since she was 2 years old (she's 12 now), you'll be fine. She loves their food (especially tacos, wings, charcuterie). My daughter doesn't enjoy metal the way I do, but she tolerates it there. I do something unheard of and talk to her about music lyrics, movie violence, etc. She understands the difference between violence in a movie/video game and real life.

Also, I assume you're going to the game Saturday, so Go Blue!

Side note, I grew up in Baltimore, so I still side root for the Terps.

Thank you all for the quick responses. They generally dont take issue with music/movies and might actually enjoy the experience, but it will likely be a game time decision going in either direction. And we wouldn't expect them to tone down the joint for us. Either way it would be lunchtime or soon after.

I typically dont shy away from them getting out of their typical element and they've been to more than a few breweries or bars over the years and they are typically a great experience.

While a game at The Big House has been on the bucket list since MD joined the Big10, this weekend is ND/VT in South Bend. Both games will likely be a bloodbath, particularly with the beating you put in ND Saturday.

The violence the kids will experience with movies and music at 3F may pale in comparison to them watching the football game wearing Hokie gear!

I've seen kids there for lunch and it is totally fine. I think the movies/metal get more intense later in the evening.
