Randomly saw six packs of Grandpa Tractor today at Mother’s Market in Santa Ana. I figured Barley Forge was going to slowly die, but here they are. I’ve bought this beer numerous times and enjoyed it right well. This one is ok, but has a slightly syrupy aftertaste. Oh well.

that would seem like a good choice for a brewery pool

I checked it out earlier this year and it didn't quite get the hype. Their beers were good, but not great. To be honest I had better beers at the Bootlegger's tasting room across the street. However, BF did serve me a damn good burger.

Well most spots only have "ok" beer, but it was one of the few places in the area to drink not too long ago. Then a few more options "popped up" and probably cut into their profit. Like most place that are only interested in the bottom line open when profits get too low they simply go away.

I’m not sure Bootleggers cut into Barley Farts biz. Maybe? Haven’t had anything Boot in the last 6-7 years. Gunz was my go to place instead of BF. I just got back from the area 30 minutes ago. Stopped in Windsor. I guess that’ll be my go to place in the area these days. Lots of good selections to go.

I have no info to back it up, but a friend just told me that Barley Forge was bought out and is going to stick around. I loved their Dortmunder, that is until I bought it last - which i assume is after the original brewer quit.

They posted a two-part update on Instagram saying they'll stay open through Dec. 4 and will keep brewing beer while the place is being shopped around to potential buyers.

Getting rid of the current (bad) ownership seems like a win for everyone.

It's possible, but man Bootleggers beer is a shell of what it once was. I've gone to the CM location twice now and neither time did I have a beer that was above average.

Not Bootlegger’s, Barley Forge. And I don’t think size or quality is a problem. ABI bought out Golden Road and that place was a hot pile of garbage. Hell, they’re the only ABI buyout who’s beers and brand awareness got BETTER after ABI stepped in.

Maybe it'll become Golden Road's south OC outpost.

Follow the bankruptcy filings (they are all public record), get a few of your neckbeard buddies to pool a few bucks to buy the BF assets and you may find yourselves the proud owners of a production brewery and kitchen! Just make sure that, if you are the winning bidder, you brew nothing but haze, pastries and hard seltzer or else you'll wind up in the same place as BF!

Golden Road may have been a crap brewery but they can and had the capacity to brew a crap ton of beer, a crap ton of beer equals profits. Bootleggers, barley forge dont have the capacity to get buds interest. I also doubt at this point bud is looking to expand their craft market unless it is for pennies on the dollar because the market is saturated.
