Day 4 from @Elneenee sour, tart, a little funk, mostly getting cherry notes and something else I cant quite pick up on. Basement Berries-Jackie Os. Raspberries, Cherries, Strawberries. Best sour I've had from JO's. Really solid pairing with the Starburst. Thanks!
Sorry been lacking on posting in here. Day 4a is a delicious treat from NG. Raspberry, strawberry goodness that pairs wonderfully with the laffy taffy! Thanks @Bert00
Day 3 from @bl00 Some kind of fruited sour. Knew for sure peach when trying the candy. Peach Automatic Fantastic from South County Brewing. Thanks Dan
Day 4 from @bl00 Somehow didn't get a before pick tonight. Grain Bird barleywine from Peabody Heights paired with Caramel Swirls. Another new brewery tic. Thanks Dan.
Day 4 from @winehead247 brought a big, thick BA stout perfectly paired with Snickers. Slightly boozy, tons of chocolate, and once it warmed up there was plenty of coffee and some vanilla to be had. 500ml bottle, which threw me for a loop... Scofflaw 2nd Anniversary, such a delicious night cap. Thanks again Blake!
@jschott75 has been doing a great job with the beer and candy this round and Day 4 is no exception... Tart and juicy cherries and cherry almond chocolate deGarde Kriek Premiere! Last night I decided to be a rule breaker and get right into Day 5...saw the hazelnut chocolate pairing and was anticipating a tasty stout... Blind (and still cold) got a lot of sweet coffee and thick chocolate with marshmallow along with great bourbon barrel notes Transient Canuckley! Coffee, vanilla stout aged in BLIS maple syrup bourbon barrels. Excellent, well balanced treat, thanks Jim!
Better late than never I guess. @Greeny87 has hit me with some awesome brews thus far. 1a was a juice bomb and based on extras I figured it was a schmoojee. This was just as advertised and disappeared quick. 1b clearly was some haze. The candy paired real well with this one. At least what was left after my daughter pillaged it Day 2 had me guessing stout based off the chocolate pairing. This was a solid roasty stout that I've never heard of. 3a revealed a pillowy ipa. My guess right away was something from Treehouse. Was super excited to reveal a beer I've really been wanting to try. Then came 3b. I guessed treehouse again based of the bottle type and previous beer. On the nose I smelled coffee and maple and thought it was impermanence. Was right on the coffee part but not the maple. As it warmed I definitely tasted the vanilla.
4a and 4b will be consumed with today's as @azuelke and I met up with @Greeny87 at eagle park last night. He made sure to provide some bonus beers by sharing these two with us. Thanks Andrew for all the awesome beers thus far!
Day 5 is a sour. Getting some stone fruit, not super tart and it’s very smooth. Not sure what brewery this even is but it’s tasty. Technically I got it, I did say the name of the beer. I think this might even be my first SP beer. Thanks @Sturgeon83 !
day 4 poured from another waxed bootle. Nose was berries? Great MF, tart, well balanced. No idea on the guess. Pretty sure the candy was for Day 3 but I messed up. Best candy this far!
Day 5. Stout, smooth with a slight hint of booze on the back end 3 Floyd's Dark Lord (2019) Great candy pairing with the assorted Whitman's chocolate. Thanks @Elneenee
Day 4 reveal. Wiscoy Valley from Forager. Excellent pour, Thanks for giving me the chance to try this @brewnic , black currants were tasty
Tonight brings on a non-waxed bootle with a De Garde cork. Nose? Straight peach. Taste? Straight peach. Tart, going to continue to get nicer as it warms. No guess on the title but I’m guessing PEACH
great candy pairing, total peach bomb. I don’t get to thump a 750ml DG on a Wednesday very often but this one would be easy anytime. Cheers @brewnic
Catch up action on some seriously amazing beers from @Burrass. Day 2 was straight up joose much like the first day, but with much thicker berry puree-like consistency and flavors: The Answer Black & Blue Triple Pufficle! Loooooved it, and easily the most unique beer I've tried last this year Day 3 was a gear change to a smooth stout with a well paired candy: Hardywood Foolery, one of the best milk stouts I've had, complex and smooth Thanks Matt, both were a great treat!
Day 4 from @Burrass was clearly another Hardywood based on the bottle format with some fruity tartness, but I couldn't guess much beyond that: Apple Brandy Barrel GBS, a kickass beer plus beer-based chocolate to boot Day 5 was a flavorful mix of coconut, vanilla and so much more, a total slow sipper: The Veil collab with Hudson Valley Brewing, Curtains II with everything I got plus pineapple (!) and honey. A bold dessert beer that made Butterfinger look tame Excellent adventures of great VA beers continue, been a great ride, thanks and cheers Matt!
Day 5 brought a fruity IPA, that should have been paired with Starbursts, but it seemed as though my wife had other plans. Nonetheless, the beer was damn tasty, slight tartness. Just based on location, I figured it would have been another Creature Comforts joint, but it was a TrimTab Colossus Awakes Passionfruit TIPA. No way in hell did that sucker taste like 10%, much less half of that! Thanks again @winehead247
Next time we are going to do a round, which should be in the near future, sign-up and join the fun. Wouldn't be a bad idea to get a trade or 2 under your belt first, but if not, no big deal. We can tag you when signup's open for the next round.
Day 6 - Glad I could see the cap so I could bust out some PGW. Getting some light rum and heavy vanilla/marshmallow. Can’t tell what other adjuncts there are at this point, but the sweetness is more well-balanced than some of those other prairie dawgs I’ve had. Still don’t get the banana, which is fine by me. Really good, though, thanks @Sturgeon83 ! And the kill shot. Really great six days, couldn’t have asked for more.
