Greetings boys and girls of better beer!

Sorry, this is early and will be short. The holiday has my Sunday routine on full-scale festive disarray. I love it but doesn't bode well for spending a lot of time on NBS posts.

Hope you all have recovered from the post-tryptophan induced coma and were able to sample some good brews to accompany the turkey and fixins.

We are all seasoned NBS vets (and if you aren't, hang out for a couple posts and watch the magic...you'll get the idea) so let's raise 'em high and share 'em here.

Thanks for keeping NBS fresh, informative, and fun. Good day and good drinkin'.

    Peace, love, and malty-ness,

    Matt

New English Dark Mild Ale Sunday

Found this brew in a variety pack from Guinness. Generous Ale - a Dark English Mild. It's okay. As I said in the review, it's worth the twenty bucks to have the Foreign Extra and to try this one out. Don't care much for the Black Lager, which I had already reviewed, and the regular Guinness is drinkable enough, as always. Wouldn't get this variety pack again, but glad I bought it once.

    New American Pale Ale Sunday

Long time, no post. I used to post in the NBS thread on a nearly weekly basis, but fell off of the bandwagon over a year ago. I wasn't a huge fan of the BA redesign and stopped frequenting the site as often.

The fire has returned a little, and here I am! It is pretty chilly here in Central NJ, and we saw some flurries yesterday. I've had an excellent 5-day holiday weekend and have gotten to drink some fantastic beer. One of my best friends had the (luxury? burdon?) of driving back to NJ from a Nebraska wedding this past Tuesday and made the best of the trip by stopping at a little brewery in Munster, IN. He brought me back some goodies, including a bomber of Dreadnaught that we shared Friday night. It was expectedly amazing, but I dare say that it is surpassed by the beauty that I just tucked into.

If you have the chance to try Zombie Dust, you really need to. It lived up to the hype and I'll be scheming to find a way to get more!

    Rye Beer

My contribution to NBS is a strange beer. At first I thought I grabbed a mis-labeled beer as it could not possibly be the same beer as what other reviewers have noted. Must be some QC issues in the brewery. Badger Hill Three Tree American Rye:

    New Winter Warmer Sunday

    Seasons Greetings to all NBSer's,

Well the icy fingers of old man winter are upon the great plains of SCMN. No snow, yet, but it's just a matter of time. I'm working up to bracing the winter chill with the purchase of seasonal beers. There are so many to choose from and this one I purchase most years. The always interesting OSA from Anchor is even more so this year. While holding the spruce qualities most have this one seems to have a little something extra.

Best to all this week and I hope you all find something interesting to drink to add to whatever else life may bring you.

    Happy NBS to all...

I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving and all have a wonderful holiday season.

Chilly, windy and mostly cloudy here on Long Island today.
Helped my son get ready to drive back up to school (fill the gas tank, buy food and give out cash: $$ cha-ching $$ - Thanks Dad!).
After that I blew out the sprinklers and raked leaves.
Yesterday was my (and BitterBill's) birthday.
We went to a local brew pub for dinner and fresh beer (just me and my family because Bill lives in Wyoming!).
I had a few beers before trying this one yesterday, so I brought home a growler to review for NBS.
It's so new that I had to add it to the database...

    NEW AMERICAN IPA
    Greetings, Fellow NBSers,

36 and cloudy in the largest city between Seattle and Minneapolis.
Still mourning the Apple Cup, I went with a can of Vortex IPA from Fort George I picked up on Friday at Total Wine on the northside:

    >>>>>> New American Stout Sunday <<<<<<

Black Bear XX Stout from Alameda Brewing in Portland Oregon.

A pretty good stout. Long on coffee flavors, I'd have it again.

I drank this one from my WSU glass in honor of the Apple Cup win on Friday. A miserable football season here in Cougar Country, but a win over the Huskies really takes the sting out of it. I am already looking forward to September.

The small glass belongs to my lovely wife (of 25 years next week), who doesn't like beer, but accepts my "hobby" for what it is, and has recently started trying my NBS beers, albeit in a small glass. (I get to finish what she doesn't like.)

    New Winter Warmer

Winter is starting to rear its head in West MI. Temps have dropped significantly since Thanksgiving. Definitely saw my breath on this afternoon's run.

Following Gary with a review of a seasonal favorite from Anchor. I perceived it quite differently. Always look forward to this beer. A great fit for the colder weather.

    Greetings NBS,

Back from the Thanksgiving travels and just enough time to squeeze in an NB tonight. I was very fortunate to sample some fantastic beers the last few days including a visit to Capone's in Norristown, PA for their Black Friday event which if you live even remotely close I highly recommend.

A buddy of mine hooked me up with this fine brew he found in his travels.
