For NoVA, they use Reverie Distribution which I think spun out from The Veil a la Sleek Machine from Bissell FWIW.

Can I please live vicariously through someone who went to GftW?

Honestly, one of the best years I’ve been. Next to zero lines, amazing selection, they stopped doing the timed tappings and just let everything loose all at once. Food truck game was VERY strong (Mami Squid Ink Burger, Okonomiyaki, and the wood fired white pizza). Perfect NE fall day. Standouts for beer was the foraged Gruit, Extra Luppolo, and Cuvée Thierez. Such a chill event. Also, the tix are a steal for how much comes with them.

Def one of my favorite fests every year. The Bluppolo with that crazy color was a standout for me. Missed the cheese & charcuterie plates they had last year; great oysters, though.

It was a beautiful day. So many amzing beers poiuring oif all styles, all the time and almost nothing ran out. FOMO just didnt exist, just great to see so many chilled out people just relaxing and drinking a full pour of whatever beer they chose. This was the same weekend as the Festival and GABF and in compartison those two events just seemed like hellish masses of stressed out beer nerds and tickers.
I know I am gushing like a total fan girl but it just gets better year after year and I really think it is the most fun event possible

I need this in my life. It also sounds like the perfect Thanksgiving beer.

    Hoping for two things:

    1. it’s easy to come by
    2. that the smoke isn’t overpowering

For some reason I can only enjoy a mild smokeyness, it becomes overpowering quickly for me. My trip to Bamberg was a delicious yet eye-opening experience.
Either way, this sounds delicious. I can imagine Oxbow knocking it out of the park.

I've had at least one other smoked beer from Oxbow, Schweinshaxe. It was one of the best smoked beers I've ever had. I'm not generally a huge fan of smoked beers since most of them to me feel like the smoke is unnatural. This beer definitely changed my mind about what a smoked beer can be, so I've got high hopes on this.

I recall Oxbow advertised Bowie as being "subtly smoked" and I found that beer unpalatable it was so smokey. Same goes for the Oxtoberfest blend they released like 4-5 yrs ago. Sap Haus sounds interesting though, and it's been a number of years since I've had the other two beers, so maybe I'll try a can if it shows up by me.

I'm a big fan of any smoked beer Oxbow puts out mostly because they're all lightly smoked, nothing is overwhelming.

I love that they’ve been able to transition to cans without losing that identity of their beers being unique. Like they’ll go from cans of a smoked lager and a dry hopped farmhouse then be like “oh boom here’s a mixed culture saison that’s better than most in the country.” Haven’t lost their identity at all.

Do you drink a lot of smoked beers?

I aged that one and drank it last year and don't recall much smoke, but it did have some kind of bitterness going on that I didn't really care for - not sure how or if smoked beers should be aged but I'd be interested in trying a fresher Oxtoberfest blend, and of course the beer under discussion as well. Trust you enjoyed Wilco recently as did I...

Not a lot, but I do like Hill Farmstead's Fear & Trembling for example.

That Oxtoberfest was such an odd beer! I think it was the 2012/13/14 blend that I'm referring to.

And yes -- tons of Wilco! I've seen 5 shows so far on this tour (& more to come!) and they've all been excellent. I love the new album, and am especially enjoying hearing the new songs live. I'm glad that you had a good time. Have you done any of the Solid Sound Fests?

Yea, same blend for me; I wrote a brief review if it...that appears to be the last year they did a blend according to both BA and Untappd.

Nice on Wilco! Agree on the new album but wasn't aware of the Solid Sound Fests, will check them out. I'm a relative newbie but did see my first of three shows when they were just starting out, and have only now crept back on the bandwagon, even been downloading some of their live shows from one of my G Dead sources.
