i would guess it’s a stout in the spirit / tradition of BBT weekend.

Will the surprise bottle be available to all comers or just those with BBT purchases? It wasn’t clear to me from the IG post.

if it’s anything like past BBT weekends, anyone is eligible for the other “surprise” to-go bottle.

I’m starting to wonder though. Seems like there were maybe more BBT this year so if 750-1000 ppl pick up their BBT along with walk ins for every day it’s available then it would have to be a MONDO batch. Whatever it is...

True, but they don't offer it all day. They will have it at both locations starting at open. Maybe 75-125ish bottles at Cellar at open, more at the brewery generally. The past few years the line will start several hours before open each day. Barrel aged coffee shop vibes in 2017, coconut vibes last year.

Excited to be going again, had a blast the past few years meeting new people and sharing on-site bottles. Hoping this year will be just as fun.

Hows the line system work? Are there 2 separate lines? Being that I was fortunate to get a bottle this year, will I have to get there really early? I'll be driving down from Iowa.

Curious to see how it will work this year with the Tues & Weds pick-ups in the mix as well. For the surprise bottle last year I believe the only day that had a cutoff before the location open was Friday at the Cellar. Saturday at the Brewery & Cellar Coconut Vibes lasted through the lines at open; Sunday it was close but if you were in line by open you got it.

Small question, if someone has a clue... It's about SP distribution.

We've getting some very limited amount of SP bottles in Europe from time to time (via the Evil Twin connection), which is nice of course.

A couple friends in China told me that some Side Project is hitting the shelves over there later this month, bottles like SdF Pinot b3, Pulling Nails 10, Rosé du Ble, Burk, ... Which I was surprised about (why China?).
Did anybody hear about plans for more exports?

I think they are wanting to avoid lines. That’s why they are saying it won’t be a surprise and it’s going to be announced ahead of time. Last year the line was so long at the cellar for the surprise bottle plus BBT pickups that ppl were standing outside forever even after open and had no prayer to get in to drink onsite bottles. Plus if you do a little each day for 5 days, your flippers and mules are going to line up every single day which I would think they would want to avoid.

I very well may be wrong this time but have a feeling this years it’s going to be a plus 1 for BBT purchasers and not a public release unless there is some leftover Sunday. We’ll know soon enough!

i have no inside information whatsoever but i would be shocked if this is the case. that sounds like some TG shit right there. rewarding those that have already been rewarded (won) and double wammying those that haven’t. that’s not ever been SP’s style.

I really don't want to start something in this thread, but that's kind of exactly what is happening by releasing a special bottle on the days of BBT pickup. Very few people will make a trip just for the extra bottle unless it is out of this world. So, with it being unannounced the last two years, they rewarded those people double, and this year rewarding the winners again - although the bottle will be announced.

It's not exclusive to winners, but it's still rewarding those people that already won. They could just as easily not release something extra. I'm not sure I actually understand why there's a need to release something extra.

(I still don't understand a reason to make BBT available to go, personally, since derivations are no longer to go, but that's a whole separate issue.)

Because they make a whole lot more BBT than Derivation.

Then you would have the people complaining they have to go to SP to try it onsite.

i kind of see where you’re coming from here except that you can try BBT on-site. so if you don’t get in on BBT online sale you still can pick up a great “surprise” bottle and try it on site. that’s not a terrible situation by any means.
