You should have plenty of time. Can sales will start at 4pm, and if you choose, you could probably just go straight to the taproom and start getting pours at 4, then when the line dies down, go grab some cans. Depends on what you want. If you're looking to get all three, maybe get in line, as some may sell out, depending on amounts. To give you an idea, I was there for the VSOJ release last year, and it was one of the most hyped releases they've had, if not the most hyped. I got there at 2pm, and was top 100 in line. And got the full amount that I should. So you should be fine if the bus gets you there in the early afternoon.

Definitely another vote for "just get there at 4 if you want to taste the beers" here. If you want cans it could go either way; it's always hard to tell what Rev fanboys will decide to line up crazy early for, but if you just want to sample the beers and all the cool one-offs (which I generally highly recommend), getting there at 4 is your best bet.

And if you just want a chill time and don't have to be there Friday and don't have to try absolutely every variant, that entire weekend should be a great time to get to the taproom.

    1) Just as a data point regarding when to line up for next Friday, I strolled into the Vanilla Deth release last year around 9:00pm and got 2 4-packs, which I believe was the full allotment; and

    2) I just re-read the Cuvee de Grace and 10 Year Beer descriptions and feel like Mr. Slave with a clan of Lemmiwinkses--Jesus, Jesus Christ.

Also, Rev may still have Deth's Tar still available but best to check the site. Also Capone's Liquor is about a 10 minute walk from Rev and might still have some if Rev doesn't as well as other Chicagoland only brews.

I'm about to sit down with Marty & Josh Noel to taste through them and listen to Marty give the breakdown on barrels/aging time/approach/etc. for this year. That's when I usually pick up all the dirty details worth sharing.

One thing I would like to get out of the way now is the fact that there will technically be two 2019 Straight Jackets...Since it's evolved into one of our bigger releases, along with Deth, we wanted to front load it in the schedule and give it more of the cold/holiday season to be out there and have success honestly, instead of releasing in January. So for this year, there's Jan-2019 (last season) and Oct 31-2019 (upcoming batch). It will be a little annoying from a communication angle, but ultimately worth it I think. Apologies in advance!

I have a feeling your Barrel Aged Beers will sweep GI's in Josh's rankings this year.

Might as well refer to them like NBA seasons; SJ '18-19 and SJ '19-20.

    (or batch 1 & 2 )

Yes! We were just talking about this last night - so VERY happy to have fresh SJ at the holidays! (Especially since none of the 16 cans we purchased in Jan/Feb made it past June )

This years Straight Jacket is going to be made of 3 different batches primarily, A) 1 Year, B) 1.5 Year, C) 2 Year old components. The two year old component is actually nearly 50% of the blend, but that is the dry component. In 2018, the "30% VSOJ year", that was sweet component. Again, this does not mean Straight Jacket is 50% VSOJ, but it does mean that half of the blend spent two years in the barrel. The sweeter component is more on the younger side, which will make this a different combination of age/sweet/dry than we've had before. Marty is insistent that this is his favorite and most ready to go out of the gate of all Straight Jackets.

Is it safe to assume some or all of the beers being released will also be on draft at the brewpub? My flight doesn't get in until 6:20, so I'm hoping to grab some of whatever is left (if any) at the brewery, then head down to the brew pub for some food/draft samples.

    Thanks in advance!

V.S.O.R. is a lot of the barrels that were Boss Ryeway with an extra year on them, which was a combination of Kentucky Peerless Rye Barrels and the Boss Hog Armagnac barrels. Where Boss Ryeway was heavily on the Boss Hog (naturally) as a %, V.S.O.R. is much heavier on the Peerless Rye. If you don't know much about that whiskey, read up on it, cause its a pretty special barrel that we were lucky to get so many of. The remaining ~30% is the standard Ryeway to Heaven treatment of Heaven Hill Rye & Bourbon barrels. It's an absolute Maple bomb while being dry on the palate, not nearly the sweetness of VSOJ.

Finally got around to cracking a "regular" Deth's Tar tonight...wow. Best batch yet to my palate. INSANELY drinkable for nearly 15%.

Oak, dark chocolate, mild bourbon, hints of cream.

I think I like it better than this year's Cafe Deth, and I REALLY liked Cafe Deth.

Yes, I know this is old news, having a Cafe Deth and it is outstanding! Weather getting colder and this is my perfect BA coffee stout sipper night cap.
