Burger, salad, and beer $10 how can you go wrong? 1•101 NEQIPA 12.5% 18 different hops.

 

Drinking Kozel Dark which won a slot among the Christmas beers this year at the monopoly. 3.8% abv. The color is quite dark. The aroma is quite muted, some very light dark malt aroma but that's it. No diacetyl. The flavor is mildly malty and roasted with a slight sweetness that quickly disappears, leaving a dry finish. The hop bitterness is mild and is mostly cancelled out by the malt. It's a light tasting beer overall. Although it is pleasant tasting I wish the flavor was stronger.

I've noticed that quite a few of the Czech beers which are around 4% abv contain sugar (even pale beers), as does this one. I wonder if they add the sugar post fermentation to give it more body, or percieved fullness. I would imagine as much since I don't see the point in drying out these lower gravity beers compared with the higher gravity lager beers.

I found a video of the brewery which was interesting to watch, especially the repitching of the massive lagering barrels.

Greets fellow BA's! Took today and Friday off in commemoration of being another year older and wiser. My friend Barbara is coming over this evening to celebrate, she usually brings along some pretty good beer and I'll be making us some pizza. In the meantime, this isn't too shabby.
