FOBAB (2019)

Just make sure you check the dates they are open (Huntington Beach location was closed most of the week when I attempted to go) and your wife plugs in the right location in the GPS (mine wound up with me driving 40 minutes to Seal Beach location rather than Long Beach one which we were right by).

 

I don’t know what any of that means but it got me excited!

 

Amalgamator canned dates at Beer Temple 10/26/19. Several cases available. Citrus and 500/750 ml bottles also available.

 

They have had food at Fobab and per their website will again this year. It's generally of the hot dog/pretzel/nachos variety. They have tons of water.

There is a Jim's Original Hot Dog stand just south of the venue and it's pretty easy just to walk over there and grab something. I usually get a quick hot dog or Polish sausage midway through the session. You're not supposed to bring food in though. Also make sure you eat before the session.

 

I was sitting there about the same time as you lol. I went with Citraholic on draft and the mocha machine - got amalgamator cans to go. Thought the Citraholic was borderline incredible, but it may be that I'm just haze fatigued out.

 

Thursday, the 7th, being the first Thursday of the month, is when the Chicago Beer Society has "Thurst Firsday" starting around 7:00 pm. I have not read anything indicating something else, so it should be at Goose Island Clybourn.
Ostensibly, this is for homebrewers to get assessments of their brews, but commercial beers are omnipresent. I'll be bringing stuff out of my fridge, including something bought Wednesday evening.

 

Can you leave and re-enter? Never knew this was an option.

 

I do every year for a Polish, Popeye's, or both. Gotta refuel for the FOBAB flatulence warfare. It's a race-to-the-bottom but we're all in it.

If you go to Popeye's can you post which line was longer, Bourbon County variants or the one for Popeye's chicken sandwiches?

 

People would do everyone a favor there if they would just put the Polish in the other end....

 

anyone see posts or have some insider info as to what any breweries are bringing? Kinda feel like we can make some educated guesses from what was at Mikerphone

Not sure if I posted this earlier but here’s a pro tip: When you enter the fest, go have pours for 20-30 minutes before checking in your coat. You’ll come back and see no line. It works the other way in terms of beating the 5pm exit

 

Any new breweries in particular that should be sought out tonight? TIA

 

For Friday PM sessioners....Can folks post beers to seek out and what some if the other well known brewerys are bringing.....or just post the booklet? Ha. Cheers and enjoy

I am forgetting from last year, but if I bought 2 tickets for my friends and they are under my name on the ticket, as long as they are with me when we go in that's fine right? I don't see anywhere where I can change the name on Universe or transfer.
