It’s one of the best stouts they make, regardless of how easy it is to get. Top tier stuff. The barrels really shine on it.

Think general rule of thumb is to just split the bean and recap. Don’t think scraping is necessary since the surrounding liquid will penetrate the insides regardless.

I've got a cheap bottle opener that somehow leaves the cap in very good shape after prying it off, and have just popped the caps back on to save for later many many times. Shouldn't have any issue doing this if you have a bottle opener that can preserve the integrity of the original cap.

Arcane Rituals won BEST Barleywine/Wheatwine and BEST OF SHOW at FOBoB!?!?
Cheers to all the hard working folks at BL!

edited to mention that this is the first time since 2011 that a Stout hasn't placed in the top two for Best of Show

This is also the first time since 2012 a brewery won Best in Show back to back. Last brewery was Goose Island in 2011 and 2012.

I've been wanting a bottle of Arcane Rituals for a little while now...hope this doesn't make it more difficult to acquire when I actually am ready to swap for one!

FOb4 won Best in Show and gold in it’s category last year and you can find it in some stores still even now. Will probably be the same situation here. BL doesn’t trade as well nationwide anymore because their production is way up and their distro footprint is getting pretty big, and the fact that it’s not a hype beast adjunct stout means a lot of people will overlook it even with the FOBAB wins.

Arcane Rituals is great. Tons sitting on the shelves too. Similar to Bourbon OE. Would love additional vintages.

Easy sale. Updated limits are great. Excited to drink out of the new DSN glass.

I’m not here to say much of anything, but I am so surprised how much hype and excitement Bottlelogic has lost in about a year or so.

I remembered when people were in these threads talking about their beer whether they were excited for a release or bummed that they missed out.

I still enjoy BL and go once every other week but I don’t buy every release like I used to. My money now goes to Green Cheek as they have more affordable and much crispier/delicious lagers.

Has BL really dropped (it appears) off that much? If so, why?

Their production has gone up significantly and their distribution has spread to other states. You can get Stasis bottles in Nor Cal, Arizona and Nevada now. Couple that with the fact that a lot of Stasis bottles are very easily found in liquor stores here in California (with only a few releases being exceptions), the “hype” has died. So less people care to comment on them now.

Or to put it another way, all that Bottle Logic has lost is the Hype and the FOMO.

The only versions of Fundamental Observation I've tried are FO18 (bottle) and FO19 (draft). I remain completely unimpressed with those (and the few other BA Stouts I've tried from them), but some folks say that it used to be better.

FOB1 and FOB3 have been my favorite batches probably but they still make some solid stouts. I loved BOR, for example. Seriously was delicious.

Their stouts are good, really good. They’re also absurdly expensive and as mentioned much easier to obtain now than before. Price per ounce is Close to Horus and Three Chiefs level. The rest of their beers are fine. Nothing exceptional. Decent IPAs and lagers but there’s tons in Southern California doing those styles just as well or better. And their tasting room situation sucks. Like reallly sucks.

I remain convinced that you won’t find a brewery putting out Stasis-level-good releases as often as BL does and at such a high quality. Their stouts and strong ales are top notch. Details and Dialects was a new strong ale fave and their staple releases remain very good (FO, Darkstar, etc).

    Fremont makes some great beer.

Opened a 2019 Darkstar tonight and felt it wasn't as good as past batches. Followed it by Reaction State which is really great.

I'll be buying alot of BL beer in 2020. And Freemont when I can. Its not an either or for me. Both breweries produce beer worth seeking out.

It’s funny now that people can’t profit from their releases via resale or trade, they are suddenly counting pennies/oz on stasis bottles.

The ABV went up? I hope this is closer in taste to OG Forces than Theorem
