I agree with this take...and I love it. I got the same vibe from 1.29 tea a couple of weeks ago, which was done with a totally different hop profile. Can any expert out there tell us what causes the melon taste??

Just got back from our yearly trip to Maine. Was in Portland for the day on Friday and popped into Novare Res like always before dinner and lo and behold, it was Other Half and friends tap takeover! I mean, I dig OH but I can get their beer any time. I wanted to spend the weekend enjoying local brews. So right after having three beers, I stormed out of there! Couldn’t help it. There was so much good stuff I had to have some. Place was packed btw.

I think you mean "other half and homies." Don't be such a square.

+1 on the melon notes on Mystic Greens, it's good very smooth for 10%.

SDH is outstanding, I get a lot more coconut than the coffee but this is so smooth. Should have picked up even more.

I know but I can’t say homies. And calling me a square makes you a square.

Did any regulars here get a ticket to the Hop Sessions tasting they're hosting in the old taproom? For anyone who hadn't seen that on IG stories (oddly it's not on their website under events), a certified cicerone will be presenting 8 4oz pours from Russian River, Monkish, Tree House, and others (assuming some OH beers too). They had two sessions up and they're sold out (which doesn't seem hard to do given the size of the old taproom).

Yeah same here on all counts. Just my aforementioned credit card balance stopped me loading up more.

    But that said:

Sarah appears on screen, with @RobNewton’s head in her lap. She’s ruffling his hair gently. Rob looks up at Sarah lovingly.

I would've probably done that if I saw it. Nice to see OH take themselves seriously on occasion. How much was it out of curiosity?

I wasn't going to, but a few of my friends were down so I couldn't resist. Going to be at the early one. I've also never had any Russian River, so if anything this is my shot to check that off the list.

$50, definitely steep, I mean plenty of festivals are around that much, but I'm sure it'll be fun.

I thought about it, but I don't trust I'd get there in time and at the $50 price tag I decided to pass. I am curious to see what people say about it and would be interested in the next one based on peoples reviews.

chicago received a huge drop, first ever. in terms of portfolio, is this a fairly accurate representation of top tier (first 3) and more "standard" offerings?

curious if anyone has tried enough chicago hazies to form a comparison, appreciate the feedback!

DDH Mylar is in a lot of people's top OH beers. Triple Cream is one of the best TIPAs I've had period. Triple Nelson DD is definitely not on the same level as the other two. .

I've had a couple beers from Hop Butcher, and while they were all great I think OH makes better stuff. That may just be my NY pizza bias bleeding over into beer, though.

Mylar is the only top tier BA forum, aka old man local, beer there. Since I'm not trading or paying a huge mark up I want the solid IPAs. IMO their 8.5% recipe for the single and dual hops are world class. I can't drink a couple 10.5% to my head watching the Yankees on a Wednesday night.
