Have a nice Tuesday BA. Going to be bitter cold the next couple days up here.

Bell's Double Two Hearted. Fantastic as usual. Aromas and flavors of huge ruby red grapefruit, mandarin orange juice, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, honeydew melon, citrus peel/zest, peppercorn, and pine hops; with balanced honey, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light caramel/nutty malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Mild booze in the aromas as it warms. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; very creamy/bready/grainy malts and some sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter/spicy alcohol dryness, no cloying/astringent. Very smooth/soft, mild increasing warmth of 11% after the finish. Amazing Centennial showcase as expected. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a nice sized balancing malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. More candied-like citrus and a bigger malt backbone; but just as balanced from the 2.5X extra hops. Did not prefer it over the base beer, but will buy the regular more often than I have been.

Bell's Side Yard. Fantastic NEIPA. Lasting rocky head retention/thick foamy lacing. Opaquely hazy green color. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness, no hop astringency. Very smooth, nicely soft, not overly aggressive, minimal warming 6.8%. Fantastic fresh Chinook showcase. Extremely vibrant, dank, earthy, and fairly juicy hops; with a nice sized wheat/oat/malt backbone. Mild residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. Would have preferred some new world hops in there, but they nailed what they were going for with the style. It is even softer than it was fresh. Will buy again.

Good morning from across the pond. Having the day off so enjoying some dark beer with my oatmeal this morning.

Stress Test by To Øl, 8% ABV baltic porter. Loads of roasty, licorice and sweet chocolate notes. I'm one of those weird people that don't drink coffee but this is a great substitute for breakfast. Cheers!

New Belgium Peach Kick. Excellent session sour. Nice fluffy head retention/spotty lacing. Aromas and flavors of big juicy/tart/tangy peaches, fruit fuzz/skin/pits, lemon, lime, orange, pear, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, oak, peppercorn, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bready malts; light oaken vanilla, cinnamon, leathery/musty/lacto funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation, light-medium body, and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malts, lactic acid, fruit tang, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing acidic/tangy/tannic dryness; no pucker/astringency. Refreshingly smooth, mellowly lactic, zero warming 4.3%. Great balance of vibrant/juicy peaches, Brett/Bacteria complexity, and pale/wheat malts against acidity; with nice overall oak presence from the 20% sour blend.

Lets get to the beer, shall we? Tree House Super Treat - and damn, what a delight. We have some breweries on the West Coast brewing Hazy beers, but none that brew these juice/pithy bombs. Which is fine because it’s a delight to trade for them and look forward to them:

Anyway, so tonight I can’t fight the feeling. A certain song reminded me of a certain time in my existence, so I’ll post about it. Let it be known: Raul is not a filmmaker. I never took any classes. I never read a book on the subject, I just knew that I loved the world of cinema. So what does one do when they have that passion? They make their own film!

Oh my... “Green Grass” was written, directed, and starred by Raul. I bought a Panasonic DVX back in 2005 and just went for it with no damn idea. Look at Raul with shitty long hair! Oh man, I must be buzzing.

    Trailer #1:

    Trailer #2:

Rest assured, even though the entire film is on YouTube, I will not be posting it!

And this is what got me into the spirit tonight. This song is the opener to the film:

Incredible NEDIPA. Aromas and flavors of huge tangerine, orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, licorice, citrus peel/zest, wood, and light peppercorn/pine hops; with moderate cracker, biscuit dough, light honeyed malt sweetness; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Mild pine, citrus pee/zest, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; very creamy, silky, bready oats, light sticky hops, and minimal lingering resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Super smooth/soft, minimal warming 8.8%. Amazing Ella, Citra, Mosaic profile. Extremely juicy, vibrant, and lightly dank/earthy hops; with a perfectly balanced bready oat/malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering bitter dryness. Definitely the best beer from them so far. Hope to see some fresher packs around soon.

Drafting Table Blackberry Tarty Slip. Outstanding Berliner. Lasting fluffy head retention/thick foamy lacing. Lovely ruby/purple color. Aromas and flavors of big juicy/tart/tangy blackberries, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, apricot, red/green apple, currant, red grape/wine, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit malts; light peppercorn, lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and light spiciness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation, light-medium body, and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Very creamy/grainy wheat; some lactic acid, and fruit tang/tannins in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing acidic/tangy dryness; no pucker/astringency. Very flavorful/refreshing, mellowly lactic, not watery for 5%. Awesome balance of big juicy/jammy berries and Lacto complexity; with a nice sized pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity for the ABV. Old Gambrinus Light by Hancock Bryggerierne, a 9.8% ABV pilsner. Have had this a couple of times before and it's a treat everytime. Something is a rare is an imperial pilsner is bound to be a treat, right? All the qualities if a crisp and refreshing pilsner but with some sweetness from the high ABV. Bought a couple to throw in the cellar to see where it goes but gotta try it before you age it of course!

I'm catsitting for a friend this week and we are having a VERY lazy day on the couch. Say hi to Tiger. Who is currently being a bit grumpy because I wouldn't let her stuff her entire face in my beer.

Amplified Imperial Stay Puft, from one of my favorite breweries, Tiny Rebel, 12.8% ABV imperial porter. Absolutely beautiful beer, unfortunately my last one. Loads of creamy, fluffy, marshmallow notes. It's super sweet but has some nice porter characters underneath to balance it out.

So a bottle of Abraxas and a good chocolate babka sounds like an amazing first meal. You sir are doing it right, and I know what I'll be having for breakfast on Saturday morning.
