Damn don’t want to commit to the entire bundle the be able to try the variants

 

Well, if any of you that don't want all the extra vanilla or regular from the full bundle can contact me about sharing the love! I'm expecting a shitshow, so getting anything will make me happy, especially since I'll be out of town and won't be able to attend the release when they have them on tap. (That's my biggest grip with the HA releases like this...I feel like they need to keg more and have them on tap for a longer period of time.)

I get why they did it, though. You need to really "want it" to get the variants if you're ordering online. Won't stop flippers, but should at least slow them down a little.

 

I do wish they would keg more of them as well. They should last more than a couple hours on tap.

 

This is a valid point that will make it harder to get through, not to mention they are allowing proxies. Based on how quickly Benthic has sold out in the past few years, allowing proxies is a very strange move.

 

Calling it "strange" is being terribly polite. It's essentially a national lottery now. I'd love to hear HA's rationale for allowing proxies for a release that sells out very quickly.

Let's just hope they did this because there will be so much that we can all get what we want....except for the flippers who will turn to FB to voice their displeasure at how Chicago beers' secondary values are so low.

 

I didn't notice that there's no in-person line this year. That is...strange. I didn't even want to line up, but it definitely seems extremely weird that they decided to forgo it completely.

I like the optimism. My guess is that this gets to be Half Acre's year to say "oh shit, we didn't realize how bad the experience for online beer sales can be, our bad."

 

HA's announcement is about an hour old and I've already had two out of state trading partners ask if I could proxy for them if they get an allotment. Here's to hoping there is massive quantities this year.

At least this year I'm getting screwed out of it online, instead of being in line when it's snowing and blowing my lunch break.

 

Was Universe the ticket platform they used last year as well? I vividly remember how terrible the logic for the ticketing queue was for 2018 Benthic.

The fact that they are bundling the two non-vanilla variants together as a package (i.e. only one can each) makes me think there's not a TON of it.

I missed the part about proxies in my first read through, that's just bizarre. They're giving people over a week (including two weekends) to pick their allotment up. Really, really strange.

 

They should release the Orin variants in person on Lincoln on Benthic day for the people who inevitably get completely run over by the online sale.
