What are some really sought after beers from the New England area? I know Tree House and New England Brewing are both popular since they do not distribute. Who/what else is on anyone’s want-list? Back East, Beer’d, Fox Hill, CT Valley, Two Roads, Spencer Trappist, City Steam, Thomas Hooker, Counter Weight, Lawson’s, Harpoon....

NEBCO (good stuff and they do distribute a lot of their stuff)
    Back East (No)
    Beer'd (Good stuff)
Fox Hill? (assume you mean Fox Farm?) (Yes)
    CT Valley (Hell no)
    Two Roads (No)
Spencer (Good stuff, can get it anywhere)
    City Steam (Lol no)
    Thomas Hooker (Hell No)
    Counterweight (Good Stuff)
Lawson's (good stuff, relatively easy to find)
    Harpoon (OG Brewery but...it's everywhere)

if you click the Top Rated tab and select United States in the drop-down you can then select the State where it says Show All and see the top 100 rated beers.

for example, if you select Vermont most of the list will be Hill Farmstead.

How old would a bottle of one of the last batches of Kate the Great be these days do you think? When was the last time Mott brewed it?

When I looked at the top rated for Vermont, I see The Alchemist not Hill Farmstead. Am I looking in the right spot? Also looks like Fuzzy Baby Ducks is the most popular from CT. New England Brewing is less than an hour for me but they rarely do FBD can events.

2012 was the last year for Kate as brewed by Todd Mott, it was in stubby bottles, 11.2 or 12, cant recall. Next few years his assistant Tyler, now at Black Hog in CT, brewed Royal Impy, that was conditioned on bourbon oak as oppose to port oak spirals. I haven't been to Portsmouth Brewpub in a bit, but I don't think they make royal impy anymore.

Mott the Lesser is Kate the Great (essentially). Like any recipe, it had undergone tweaks and changes, but this is true even for the years of Kate the Great. If only there was an article on CraftBeer.com recently about this very topic ...

Not an alien. Just a Millennial trying to figure out how this old school style forum works. Sorry for being a noob

I’ve had several versions of MtL. Enjoyed them all. Was at the brewery for the release of version #1. (Sorry I don’t typically visit craftbeer.com - I guess I didn’t get the memo about the MtL article.)

we had Tod and Tyler talking about the beer. Good times were had by all. I really enjoyed this latest iteration of the beer.

Heady is #1 but Hill has 65 of top 100.

Are you asking what beers/breweries we think are the best, or specifically what's considered rare/desirable/exclusive?

yes! Trying to find something I’d have of value to trade for. So far, Tree House and Fuzzy Baby Ducks seem quite valuable
