Bad Trader Alert - Ransom22

Thanks, OP. Please provide as much detail as possible. However, since it was initiated on IG and not the the BA trade channels, it’s unlikely they’ll be much recourse. I don’t think he’s been around these parts in awhile.

FYI, this user is formerly OnlyTheFinest from Maine. He merged his account into ransom22 and changed his location and gender in his profile.

 

Damn. We made it a month.

Bummer, as it looks like @ransom22 has traded with lots of active BAs, including a few of my stand up trade partners IP. Tagging @ScottDrinksCraft and @hopley here in case they know this person or can assist in any way.

 

@Erikd212 Sorry you went through this. I know this guy quite well from years on the Trillium forum and from an IP trade (which went fine), as well as from seeing and hearing about others' experiences, too many to tag here. Bottom line - I'd write off the Swish, maybe I can get you some next time I'm in Maine. Just don't deal with this guy. Just wring your hands and be done with it. He's just not worth it. But definitely flag him appropriately.

OP, do you have his cell number? If not certainly someone here does. Don’t let this got off the hook so easily.

 

From reading that guy’s last few posts, he sounds like he was fed up with Beer Advocate. I don’t think we see him here again. Sorry for the loss in beer, OP. At least it wasn’t anything super rare or limited. There are plenty of good people on here who’ll make it up for that loser.

 

@Erikd212 sorry you went through this, man. I unfortunately don't have our message exchange from when he and I traded and I remember nothing about our meetup...the only thing I remember was that we chatted for an unusual amount of time before agreeing on a trade. He seemed like a relatively chill dude, but clearly that's not the case.

That being said, I live about 50 minutes from Bissell Brothers and my girlfriend works 5 minutes from there. When we can, we'd be more than happy to help you out with some Swish. Please don't hesitate to reach out!

Side note: did he remove his IG account? I only ask because I was an active IG trader for about 2 years before coming over to BA and still trade there a good bit...the only person that ever ripped me off in a trade was from Portland as well and blocked me. A bit of a conspiracy theory at this point, but just curious if others can find it because I can't.

 

Like I said, @hopley and @ScottDrinksCraft are stand up dudes. Glad to have them as trading partners, and for the trading community this website provides. Thanks for chiming in guys.

 

I can locate the Instagram account OP mentioned for this bad trader, but it’s private. If they blocked you, I don’t believe you’d be able to find it/view it. Maybe some legs with that conspiracy.

 

@Erikd212 Man, this is really unfortunate. I have some horror stories from Reddit and I won't even touch Instagram for beer trading. While I'm fully aware there are a few bad eggs here, I have been incredibly lucky with BA and some of its finest traders - @eppie82 up there ^ being a class at himself. I'm sorry to hear about your experience. If you ever need a Maine trading partner for Swish, Dinner, or anything else from up here, please don't hesitate to send me a message. I have easy access to them, and I myself am formerly from California, and remain relatively active within the BA trading forum. Despite your bad experience with a rotten user, this community is still full of some really wonderful, generous, kindhearted people. Don't let one thief ruin that for you.

Actually I never had any issues trading on Reddit, before it got blown up of course.

And believe it or not, I've only had positive trades on IG & FB in the past few years. The only negative experiences are when someone doesn't send the promised thank you beers. Not cool, but I'll live .

Definitely preferred to trade on BA.
