    Yellowhammer Brewing Nussknacker German Bock

Nice, clear reddish brown color with small cap and little lacing.

Clean, sweetish aroma of toffeeish malt, almost cola like. Perhaps something like dark cherries in the background.

Taste has more than a touch of roasted malt but that sort of bitterness is tempered by sweet elements and the overall sense is very clean. Simple flavors that match the scent and come across as present but not in your face. Little hop presence

Bravo Brontosauruses III SWDIPA from Uiltje in Haarlem (NL).
Uiltje is probably one of the best in NW Europe when it comes to real fresh IPA's. As far as I know. They have a same day dillevery service on canning days. Awesome.
    Cheers!

Checking out Komes Barleywine from Browar Fortuna in Miłosław, Poland...

Pic didn't capture metallic purple label art as well as I'd like, but it is a handsome bottle...

Last year, I checked out these three beers from them...

As you might imagine, I am already somewhat positively-inclined toward the beer...

    *bias alert* lol

Pours a muddy mahogany; translucent, backlighting reveals a dark ruby brown hue... Produced a thick finger of tan foam from a center-pour into a nonic pint... Kicked up resinous fruit aromas, with suggestions of leather and shellac... Bitter pine resin, sticky fruit and booze, herbal tones and chewy leather all meld together in a moderately sweet and moderately bitter beer... Medium-full-bodied, malty and rich, has some heft and stickiness; leaves a shellac of bitter and sweet fruit leather on the tongue; mild carbonation, hint of spice and alcohol... American or British-style? kinda straddles the fence, but coming from Europe, might as well call it a British barleywine... Reminds me of things like the Torst Front and Back Room barleywines, Nils Oscar's barleywine, Shoebelation, Old Numbskull, and Old Guardian... Grab a bottle... Bottle stamped with lot number 59/32/19/1 :sunglasses: @zid

And I can't mention Geralt and link a biopic without giving a nod to the upcoming series...

Just put the finishing touches on a playthrough of Witcher 3, though true nerds know that the video games series actually concludes the book series; and the Netflix series seems to be drawing from the very first two books, which were compilations of short stories featuring Geralt and other characters from the Witcher universe - basically setting the stage for the novel series which followed...

Meantimes, onto my second full listen-through of the new Spoil Engine album...

Better than expected, or maybe its the barleywine? lol

    Cheers...

2019 SN Bigfoot. Here's the deal. When it comes to barleywine, i much prefer the traditional English variety - sweet, malty, dense elixirs of butterscotch, caramel, toffee, and dried fruit. Is this anything like that. Not at all. However, it is like a big ol' 10% ABV West Coast IPA with a heavy caramel malt presence and brimming with C-hops. I can get down with that too. As such, Bigfeet will remain a part of my cold weather tradition.

Happy Friday all you beautiful people! Cheers!
