Are you guys old enough to drink, people say some pretty childish stuff on this board? BCBS is still very good, if the quality goes down move on but I see no evidence of this happening. You act as if a-b is out to destroy the craft beer world, they aren't. They see a niche and want to get a foothold. Why not give them the benefit of the doubt, the Craft Beer Board showed me that they are trying to do the right thing. I also have a lot of faith in John Hall. I have met him a few times and he really cares about craft beer. Slow down and judge based on evidence not preconceived notions and emotion.

Good luck finding a reasonably-priced, widely available "replacement" of equal quality.

Assuming it is going to change ... it will be business as usual for me, so many other beers to try. If it does not change than I'll still only try it once or twice a year. Not even on my radar, if it comes my way great ... if not, then some other beer will fill my gullet. :grinning:

oh stop it....its the same beer. Its just brewed by a diff "man".
I will still drink it....and buy it.
Craft is such a small % of AB profit. They are doing this for us...not them. They make their $$ on big macro 30racks ... not 4 packs of BCBS.

Did Jason just admit that he doesn't much fancy Bourbon County??? I'm must admit that I never really thought about Goose Island much until A-B bought them out; I'd look forward to a Bourbon County if I could find it, a Juliet or two, a couple Lolita's, a sixer of Harvest, Mild Winter, and a couple 4-packs of Christmas Ale, and those were the only times I ever thought of GI until all of this recent hullabaloo. Let's end the monotony, and shift the discussion back to say.... Founders=Fuckin Outstanding Unmatched Nut-busting Damn-good Ecstatically Rockin Shit.

I haven't done a side by side or anything but I thought Uncle Jacobs kind of reminded me of BCBS but boozier and sweeter.

Just a heads up. My mailing address has been designated as an authorized corporate swill depository. Please BM me for the address. I will see that that vile non-GI liquid is disposed of properly! You betcha!

Being in Cali and never having had BCBS, there's no replacement yet. If I can never get it, then Black Tuesday... Next year...

Give me a break. Yeah, AB owns Goose Island. Plenty of brands are owned by parent companies but i doubt you call all of those by their parent company. Do you watch any shows on NBC, or do you argue ridiculously that there is no such thing as NBC anymore and they are Comcast shows. If you don't call everything in your home by it's parent corporation you're just being a giant hypocrite on this one.

BCBS is still brewed at Goose Island. It is a goose island beer that is actually made there. Same with their other specialty beers. I dont think honkers and 312 are brewed there anymore. BCBS is still just as awesome as it was before. The ownership has changed but the beer hasnt. If for some reason it does then oh well. I can feel awesome and say "i had bcbs before it changed bro, you dont even know bout dat"

....i really shouldnt post after smashing a few beers. I apologize for this post and ill regret it in the am.

Even though it's available here, I never really get into the BCBS hype. I remember when it first started coming in back in the day, and it would sit there on the shelf for a year or more. Aside from the variations, I can't see spending the money on it when there are others out there that are just as good (if not better) for less money. I will admit that it is a great beer. I just don't go out of my way to get it.

Your NBC/Comcast comparison is irrelevant, just one conglomerate sucking up another. Where as Goose Island was a small Chicago business (extremely small market share) that was bought by literally the biggest company in the game.

AB InBev spent decades ruthlessly smothering the craft beer movement to the best of their abilities. After failing they had their "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" moment, and decided to buy Goose Island. While they still employ all available tactics to crush their competitors, they also now own a chunk of "craft Beer". Goose Island is nothing but a toy in the AB InBev portfolio and no one knows what the future holds. So far we've been lead to believe that not a single change has been made, or ever will be. AB InBev has no other influence but to write blank checks to Goose Island.

Some people don't wish to support AB InBev, hence they don't support Goose Island. Which is perfectly logical and rational if you value the true spirit of the craft beer movement.
