Good amount of the early carrot cake uptappd checkins are... harsh

 

I thought it was very sweet, OH serves their stouts way too cold so I'm not sure if I got a good impression of it. I thought the BA Banana one was pretty gross, the banana flavor was like under ripe and vegetal.

I wonder if those were 2017 bottles since they didn't ship out any 2018 bottles. That year was so damn good. I drove around to so many stores trying to horde as many bottles as I could find. It was a very sad moment when I drank my last one.

I heard when OH was down in Wynwood doing their thing at JWB they stopped by Art Basel and lost out on the duct tape banana, we lost our chance at the ultimate snowbird priced at $16,000 for a 16.9oz bottle, 1 case limit.

Really great beer. I did get some of the dawgs in a trade last year and those were also exceptional.

 

I think about this all the time as I help close the hospital at 5:00 PM on a Tuesday. As I'm hooking up all of the ventilators to our generator and making sure everyone's epinephrine drips have enough to last the night, I lament the fact that OH decides that Tuesday is an appropriate day to do a major release.

Just as we're about to kill the lights and lock all the doors I ask myself "don't these people have jobs?!"

Fuck. It’s never occurred to me that the guy sticking a needle in my arm could have started a shift straight after a heavy afternoon pastry session.

 

Yeah their stouts are really inconsistent. Some have been very very good and others bordering undrinkable

Saw someone say Very Green and Bright w/ Galaxy which I was thinking as well. Its a bit harder since TH doesn't really give the full hop bill details as OH does. Although if its VG versus DDH Space Diamonds I am going VG most likely.

Believe it or not, there's a lot of people who line up to buy for themselves or to share with friends. The resale stuff is nonsense and it would be nice for OH to try to put an end to it.

I was fortunate to have a few personal hours left that must be used by the end of the year, so I cut out of work 2 hours early, drove over and got my allotment to share with buddies.

 

Is this the time of year we expect peak IPA's? I guess I'm trying to figure out if the recent Space Diamonds and Forever Simcoe are both so delicious because the hops they're using are relatively freshly harvested (compared to say, hops being used in late summer batches).

 

Totally, I'm sure there are plenty of people in your position. I was part joking/exaggerating, but part of me also thinks that people muling make up a not-insignificant part of the line. And I really doubt OH would want to put an end to it. Obviously there are people making $$ off of OH's product, but it also gets far more of their product out of the door without them having to do the work of distribution.

 

Man, my GF discovered this weekend that she really likes Space Diamonds and now a whole 4 pack is gone, luckily she hasn't discovered Forever Simcoe yet
