Hop Butcher (2019)

I was disappointed with Silver Coat. Really liked Jump the Shadow though. Didn't get to try Accelerator, but sounds like I'm not missing much.

I thought that Silvercoat was really interesting but I could see that some might think it was odd. The hops, to my tastes, had a cucumber and melon aspects. It was very different from the usual HB haze.

 

Unsure how many times they've released DDD but the first batch was great.

 

Anyone else’s cans of silvercoat and relicensed nuclear accelerator pulling a mikerphone? Poured them this afternoon and they are very brown, and don’t taste that great

 

Drank a silvercoat last week and it was fine but didn't try relicensed yet...Let's hope not

 

It warms my heart to know that oxidized IPAs are known as "pulling a Mikerphone". That one got a chuckle out of me.

 

Opened a Silvercoat a bit ago. My cans have been fine.

 

Yeah my first cans were fine. Maybe just bad cans the second time around

 

Had a can of each recently and both were fine and delicious.

 

Dun Dun Dun is very good.

It’s one of my favorite HB beers.

 

Not a perfect beer, but Silver coat has a lot of redeeming qualities and I like it for its differences compared to the market. Worth trying. Relicensed nuclear on the other hand is a HUGE MISS.

 

only opened one can of reactor thus far but it seemed flat for the style (barely any head), was def 'brown', and had an odd taste overall. Was excited about the hop combo but something is not right. usually love the HB beers.

 

Roommates gf bought a pack of Silvercoat today and its brown.

 

Had a brown Silvercoat last night, as well. Still tasted decent, but that sure is a gross appearance.

Jump the Shadow was excellent, though I will say!

Is HB a regular, on tap, at the Beer Temple?
Would love to get there, but pretty much in the middle of nowhere SW Chicagoland with no easy mass transit option. Not looking to spend $50 on a Lyft either...
Other places that regularly have HB on tap, for next visit?

 

I'd say Beer Temple has a Hop Butcher on tap...75% of the time? Just a guess based on my experiences.

 

Not hard to put together a mixed 6 of their most recent stuff (2-3 weeks old) from Bottles and Cans. The stuff doesn't fly off the shelves unless it is their top offerings.
