'tis the season for brewery gift packs.
What are some of the best you've seen and some of the oddest, which would you like to receive?

For instance; Jack's Abby has a $26 gift pack with a 16.9oz bottle of BBA Framinghammer, a 16.9oz bottle of a variant and a 10oz glass. At the local prices you're paying $6 for a glass that will barely hold 1/2 a bottle.

This used to be a big source of glassware for me, as holiday gift packs with glasses were abundant in Ontario. However, this year it seems the trend is generally away from including a glass with the pack. One I really enjoyed getting for myself and giving as gifts was the Chimay pack, which included one small bottle of Red, White and Blue with that wonderful Chimay glass.

I always remembered the glassware typically being free in the christmas packs. At least for hard alcohol.

If memory serves, about 7 or 8 years ago the LCBO said they were cutting back on the gift pack boxes with glassware for environmental reasons (excessive packaging I guess?). It is a shame, as we used to see better beer in some of those boxes. I guess those stupidly large bottles of Stella Artois sell better.

A bunch of years ago I bought a bunch of Ommegang 3x750 plus a glass pack for about $10 each. Loved the glass, only have one left. I also have one three Philosophers left from the packs. The Chocolate beer and Hennepin were great too.

I like these type of packs but dont buy too often.

    Enjoy

Threw it in my cart without even checking the price (and can't find the receipt). I think this 2012/2013 box has been around for a few years. The US importer listed on the box, Belukus, seems to be defunct (w/ import rights for some of their breweries moved to St. Killians).

I hope you threw it in gently. That's some fine drinking right there.

I always am very appreciative when folks are thoughtful this time of year but end up with glasses I don’t need and extra beer (that is often something I would never drink) when I am going into dry Jan. I thank them—it is the thought that counts.

That being said, the best “gift pack” is the one where someone goes into my favorite place and asks the owner what I would that might be surprise. A winner every time.

Christmas gift packs never showed up en masse in town but I have not seen a single one this year. Buggers.

I never see any gift packs with anything I'm willing to drink. Maybe I need to get out more.

Saw an Ommegang gift pack. As I recall, it was a 4 beer assortment with a glass for $36. Not sure it was worth it.

A pretty cool reserve if you want to impress somebody like a girlfriend's dad. It worked with my in-law uncles. I didn't get a drop but they were hugging the f^ck out of me after last weekend .. yay?

Maybe. But if my father in-law hugs me I'll cut him.

I got that last year - it was really nice. That beer ages so gracefully.

That chalice was my first dedicated craft beer glass. It broke during the 3rd or 4th washing :anguished:
