This release sounds real good. Triple Mylar with no tose has me mildly aroused. And that last batch of DDH green Diamonds was amazing. What the hell took them so long to bring that back? Oh right... the use every flavor in the pasty rainbow challenge they’ve been working on.

So can we expect any more colalbs / crazy BA-stouts before the end of the year? Trying to determine what I want to stock up on.

This release sounds right up my alley. GD was the 2nd OH beer I ever had. Can’t make Saturday and I’m working days next week so no chance to sneak in and grab some cans.

Funny, if I was working nights my bum ass could have strolled in at around noon or 1 on Monday and then all of you would be asking “how does this bum ass have the time/money to buy beer at noon on a weekday?”:stuck_out_tongue:

I had 5 different IPAs this weekend, here is the order of enjoyment, Other Half filled out the bottom

    1) Trillium DDH Stillings Street - stellar Nelson beer
    2) Pile of Crowns - pure hop juice that is in your face, will get better, very good already
    3) Sand City Infinity minus one plus 2 - stellar batch
    4) DDH Space Diamonds, batch before last batch, good but a notch below best batches
    5) HDHC Citra + Mosaic - good was hoping for great.

I had a pour of All That Is and All That Will Ever Be on Saturday night and was blown away by how chewy and complex it was for 6.5%. It was so thick. I had Moment of Clarity back in August and that was amazing too. One of the best stouts I’ve had with maple syrup in it.

Labelling Tree House as pastry stouts feels like sacrilege.

ok... let's really ramp up the post frequency here.. what's a pastry stout?

if you add chocolate and peanut butter to a stout, does that count? or do you actually need to add doughnuts, croissants, cereal, etc?

I know plenty of people will disagree with me. And I know this is sort of illogical. But - similar to the “what is beer” discussion, in some cases I almost feel like it comes down to a) the brewery/its intent, and b) the overall sweetness (sort of tied to the OG/FG comments boardwalkbock had the other day) vs the ingredients. Yes of course when you start fucking with captain crunch / donuts, you’re in pastry territory. But if OH make a 15% stout with coffee and cinnamon then that will likely fall into pastry for me. If Laird Shaun of the Farmstead that’s been owned by the Hills for many generations were to do a stout with coffee and cinnamon, then that almost certainly wouldn’t be a pastry.

“The cinnamon was procured from the same Vietnamese vendor that great great great great great great great Uncle Humphrey used in 210 AD, and was transported to Vermont primarily via ethically-reared camels along the Silk Road....” etc etc
