Well, at least the Phase 3 Thread is about to surpass it for less friendliness.

I agree with you, and I'm a smoker. Hopefully soon to be ex-smoker. Worst decision I ever made in my life to pick up this garbage habit.

The only egregiously uncouth behavior I witnessed last Friday was a certain gentleman who had brought a vintage bottle of Vlad something or other to proudly share.

He experienced his comeuppance quickly when we noticed him drain pouring the entire bottle immediately after the first sip

Rev puts on a good release, among the many things they do well is to put out plenty of garbage cans in the area where people are lining up so that they can throw away their trash and empty bottles, therefore preventing it from turning into a bottle graveyard with broken glass and all of that. I'm not saying it won't go downhill in the future but this past release was one of the most civilized shares I've witnessed.

After Emmy nominated episode “Is it okay to let my dog hump the brewers leg at a beer fest?” join us for the new episode of “Inside Revolution Deep Woods Release” we sit down with noted childhood education doctors, famous brewers and a meteorologist to discuss the ethics of not only bringing children to a midwinter beer release, but what courtesies should be extended if the kids are permitted to smoke in line and at what age it is acceptable to have your first(and last pastry stout). Please join as we go “deep” for these what “wood” you do at a release explorations.

What if Revolution released these packaged Deep Woods beers one style each week rather than a handful of styles every few weeks? I suspect people would grumble and complain, but would still show up every week to the release....

I think that would be awesome, because it would double or triple the potential releases to argue about in this thread

While we’re dreaming, a 2-packs option would be essential for me at that frequency.

It's not the sharing beer. It's the not cleaning it up and devolving shitlord behavior. I have only stood in line once this year, and that was the Saturday release with essentially no one there. But last year it got progressively worse each release with people leaving empties around (especially at the end where they have the barrels). Rev has tacitly approved or turned an eye to the bottling sharing because they want people to have a good time and want to treat people like adults and everyone should act like it. I personally haven't done much bottling sharing while waiting in line because there's more than enough beer inside for me to have but I do appreciate the beers that Doug pours for everyone. tl;dr don't act like a shithead

Sorry I am late to the party, but this may be one of the best posts I have ever read on a beer forum, and from a guy with no kids no less. Take note other parents who want to bubble wrap your kid and then call other parents deadbeats for taking your kids out because the Chicago weather is too treacherous...

I was going to be done with this whole kids thing, but since you brought it back up, and commented on what a good post it was...

What? This has nothing to do with "bubble wrapping" your kids. It has to do with mitigating unnecessary risk. Your child that is under 1 doesn't need the added risk of being outside, exposed, in 20-30 degree weather, just so you can get some beer. Period.

It has nothing to do with socialization and the other things he mentioned. How is a one year old being socialized by being at a beer release, bundled to all hell, laying in a stroller, just so Mom and/or Dad can get some beer? How does a one year old benefit from this is any way?

He mentioned taking a kid to a park with 30 other children and playing, but he's talking about kids that are older already, and aren't as at risk as infants. Their immune systems are far more developed by 2-5 years old.

He's also absolutely incorrect that a child not taken to a nice restaurant will be a terror. It's very obvious he doesn't have kids, and this is the kind of stuff that proves it. Just being a good parent, instilling respect, good behavior, and discipline in your children will prevent a child from being a "terror" in a restaurant, even if he/she has never been. There is no correlation between the behavior of the child being better because they were brought to restaurants before... that's just ridiculous.

    You too. :grinning:

And my post wasn't really geared towards anything you said. I just think that person is kinda talking out of his ass, just making shit up as he goes along, so had to say something.

A few years ago, I took my five year old for 18 holes of golf in Northern Wisconsin when it was roughly 36-40 degrees during the round. I proudly accepted my bad parent award after the round :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
