Same Brewmaster. Same employees (with a few new experts, I'm sure) and the same quality.

I'll never understand why people think Anheuser-Busch hires ******s. These people are well educated and trained to brew on the large scale that year-round world-class beer demands. Hell, the Brewmaster at Dogfish Head (Tim Hawn) came from Miller/Blue Moon and nobody complains about that.

Get real. $17 for a 22oz bottle that is gone from the shelves in 5 minutes is not a reasonably priced replacement. That's almost twice as much as BCBS, per oz.

From my understanding the majority (or all) of the low-abv 12oz bottles are being brewed in Anheueser-Busch breweries which freed up the space at the Goose Island brewery to make more BCBS and what not.

Wow! I see that a few here have taken this harshly. As I have said in previous posts based on their history and what I know about A-B I don't support them in any way. If they make it, own it or distribute it I don't buy it. Sometimes it is hard but it's a choice I stand by it.

I really just wanted to here from others as to what brews were out there that were comparable to BCBS.

I've been a part of this site and the craft beer comunity for many years and in the first few years we would have never saw someone telling someone to "eat a dick". incubuscience sir you represent everything great about this site these days. (Notice equal amounts of dark sarcasm.)

I don't think he was trying to point out the person was a hypocrite, just trying to understand if they hold the rest of their life to the standards of this certain beer...It's a way of life question, and people make stands about things they want to make stands on, not things they don't want...People will stop drinking BCBS but will still eat meat from Wal-Mart? Which is worse for you? The questions, IMO, go hand in hand, it's not a deflection, it's a question for the greater good of society.

If they release BCBS in Fl this coming year, I will be replacing nothing with BCBS. If you all don't want to drink it, that's fine by me. Down here there aren't too many options for bourbon barrel aged stouts, so I will take it all.

I will replace my BCBS with all of the BCBS people are no longer drinking.

The 312, IPA, Honkers, and Mild Winter Kegs we've seen in NC have all been brewed in NY.

The interesting thing about the inBev purchase is that they've given copious amounts of Money for the Fulton st location to do whatever they want with barrel aging beers and the sour program. What InBev did on addition to that is source the brewing of their year round regulars to various InBev breweries. Thus you have more goose island regulars available and a tremendous amount of financial backing and freedom for the barrel aged beers and sours.

There is an article on this that I'm referring too but too lazy to find and post.

Honestly, this is not a bad thing at all. It's actually very good business sense from InBev and probably a big reason why Goose Idland moved forward with the deal.

Regardless of whether this tread is silly or not, it is pointless as there is no replacement for BCBS IMO. Granted, I haven't had every BA stout out there but I've had a lot and none taste anything close to BCBS. That's not to say they aren't as good (many are better IMO). What I'm saying is that BCBS has a very unique flavor profile that is all it's own. Many other BA Stouts have similarities to one another. None of them, however, are even remotely similar to BCBS. As a result, there is no "substitue" for BCBS. If you choose to stop drinking it, it can't be replaced.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Pure uneducated opinion.

Through your comments you've revealed that you have no experience doing business with AB InBev or their distributors. You have no clue as to how they conducted themselves behind closed doors.

I enjoy supporting my local beer scene, it's become a lot of fun over the last 5-10 years. However, it is growth that could have taken place earlier and more quickly without BMC's influence.

The local brewmasters I shake hands with would never employ BMC-type business tactics against each other. These commercial brewing brotherhoods are popping up all across the nation, so I try to support some of them as well. At the end of the day there are very few $ left for AB InBev products. Some breweries respect their competitors, AB InBev does not.

Here's a question; why haven't any GI employees commented on this thread?? Four years ago Goose Island would have been a part of this discussio... but things have changed.

Well my kind fellows, I did enjoy BCBS and it really reminded me of the direction of Xyuayu, but in a stout form. But this would be my replacement: Xyuayu!

It's also been reported that BCBS is being brewed in St. Louis where there is room for 5,000 used burbon barrels.

I dont mean they make it as a "gift" or like they are giving it away...I mean they are making it because we (BA) like it, enjoy it, BUY it...otherwise they would just stick to the 30racks. Its probably much easier/cheaper to make, sell, move, etc, that stuff anyway. Let the record show, I am not an accountant, or own a major brewery, nor do I have actual costs and figures in front of me; I just have $0.02
Of course they make money on it, its a business, but they wouldnt if we didnt like it or there wast a market for it. - so they make it for us.

I have found BCBS more available than in the past, so if there is a silver lining to the AB-Inbev thing, its that.
Avery Mephistopheles is a great alternative though and anyone who has not yet tried it should definately pick up a bottle (or 2).
