To some degree, this situation is the age old "if beer didn't have any alcohol but still tasted the same would you drink it?" question..in this case, these slushies virtually had no alcohol in them yet just until 5 days ago people couldn't get enough fo them. One the one hand, people should still love them whether its 3% or 8%. But, I can't just gloss over the incompetence or straight up deception on the part of 450. And I'm sure the tax man won't either.

Personally, if I'm going to consume a beverage that is probably 500 calories and lord knows how much sugar, I better be getting buzzed because I can find a hell of a lot tastier, lower calorie drinks than these pseudo beers.

If there is a lesson for other breweries in this, it seems like it would be to get your beer tested (or invest in QC). I had not heard of 450 North before this, but this (incompetence or negligence) is my impression of them now.

Just discovered this debacle via a DDB meme. Fascinating! Nothing to add other than my opinion of willful misconduct. Will monitor this thread for future developments.

And here I thought Founders would be the run away winner of beer news of the year for me.

...and then lie about it. Nothing gets me triggered more than grown adults who pass the blame and/or can’t admit when they screwed up.

It will certainly be interesting to see what happens with the next release. I don't normally go to releases because their beer is way overpriced and overhyped. I'll probably drive by just to see how many are there. Any guesses?

the thing is most breweries don’t need to have it independently tested. Hyrdrometers and refractometer that are calibrated don’t lie. It’s a lot of common sense.

It took me about 20 minutes of research to account for the majority of factors that could contribute to abv changes when I started homebrewing. He’ll, the software breweries use will just straight up tell you what abv ingredients will add

Hard to “buy low” when they’re still $24 a four pack hahahaha

You’re looking at this wrong. It’s $24 for a 6-pack of 12oz cans (equivalently). You can’t just waltz into your local grocery or liquor store and demand fermented fruit, fruit juice (not from concentrate), all with a table serving size of alcohol. It should be considered a privilege to buy this beer.

This is like Whole Foods pricing. Artisan fermented juice, organic, free range berries.

You bet your bottom dollar it’s not organic. They’d advertise that shit.

Nobody has said it yet, but I find it telling that they are releasing 7 slushy beers on Friday. You’d think given the fact they can’t accurately list the alcohol on those beers would mean they just take this on the chin. But the revenue from this one sale is too important.

Also, they dropped the prices. Going through their previous posts - Slushy XXLs used to be $25 and are now $21. Slushy XLs used to be $22 and are now $18.
