Poetica is one of my top 5 beers for sure. Having it while enjoying the views at Hill can't be beat. That being said, I think the OG Street Green was a similar "Holy Shit" moment for me.

Hops Only is real nice, a bit of a change of pace from ACE and Oh..., definitely has that melon vibe, mouthfeel is classic OH. Good stuff.

Looking to the future...anyone remember when their anniversary usually lands? I thought end of January but now I feel like it was actually early February

I actually flipped a virtual coin, ending up going with your suggestion. Luckily, a friend now is saving me one can of space broccoli, so I don't have to have any regrets after what @RobNewton said. If money was infinite definitely would've gotten all three.... Happy holidays. I'll make sure to critique them all tomorrow and add to the pages here. ACE drinking great as always, not too heavy, well balanced with great flavor, no real bitterness. As good as King Sue certainly is, ACE wins, though I wish ACE was as available as KS is out by the brewery. Points to TG though for pumping out a quality product at a solid price that survives that transport.

Sorry, I tried to spark a little discussion but was a pretty lame attempt. Will continue to lurk and figure out something else to get the group closer.

When conducting a brewery crawl of the Gowanus/Carroll Gardens are...would you start or end at Other Half?

I’d say end - out of the places I can think of (threes, strong rope, folksbier, svendale, oh) other half is likely going to have the rowdiest crowd so seems like a natural last stop. Depends on what day time etc of course

I always figure starting there for the same reason. Nothing like leaving a good, peaceful vibe somewhere like folskbier to shout at each other while packed in at OH.

Yeah, plus if you go to other half early and the release isn't insane, it's not too bad. Wait until later and it's shoulder to shoulder often regardless of release in my experience (limited compared to many on this board I grant you). Plus with a place like folkbier with lower ABV, vs other half with 8.5 or higher mostly, it's like liquor before beer, you're in the clear. Plus a good helles/pilsner/lager should be clean, which to me is preferable after doing lines of 'tose in the bathroom.

Think my issue is depending on the length of the day my ending condition may not fit with the general atmosphere of folksbier

I guess the alternative too could be an early dinner/late lunch to break up drinking and keep it together to be able to continue to a place like folkbier? Ugly baby will DEFINITELY sober you up a little and make you want pitchers of a clean lager by the end. Unless you chug beer there... And understandably Thai Street food that will burn a hole in your digestive system + copious beer will be rolling the dice big time. But joking aside, when I've done similar things I tend to have the group break it up with a beer free meal. Let's everyone metabolize some alcohol, rebuild a base of food in their stomach which does actually slow alcohol absorption (source: medical degree), and ultimately I think actually remember and enjoy the final brewery/breweries. Ultimately though you know your drinking habits and limits so you'll have to decide what works best I guess. There are other really good restaurants in the area as well (which surprised my wife) so you wouldn't be slumming it. (El mate, Argentinian, is great and opens at 4 Saturdays... Just don't overeat... As an example of something less divisive than the greatness of ugly baby).

Personally I’m with @hops_for_thought ’s original assessment. Assuming it’s just a case of a straight crawl with no other considerations (picking up cans of X beer that could be in high demand) then makes sense to finish at OH. Threes, Folkisbier etc all have (generally) more nuanced/subtle offerings. If you slay your palate/liver up front with 10% triple dry hopped tosed up TIPAs, pastry sours and 16% snickers stouts, then you may not get the most out of, for example, a foudre fermented pilsner at Threes.

But if you end up with the beer muscles to start ordering your way through those beers at the end of the night, you're setting yourself up for a morning of regret. It'll be too easy to drink ALL THE PASTRIEZ!

Personally, I prefer OH earlier in the day, no matter why I'm visiting.
