That whole controversy also came with allegations that they were putting actual tequila in concoctions billed as beer slushies that they serve at their taprooms.

Trillium opened a new location this year and apparently cut wages at said location. It is rumored (i can't confirm or not) from an ex employee that they made their "icees" with trub, and that they poured straight tequila into one of them that was claimed to be tequila barrel aged. Once again, I don't know if the last two things are true or not, but they caught a TON of backlash for it. Personally I could care less because i never drank the icee beers because they looked disgusting as is.

The Trillium thread was pretty entertaining when this all happened. Disproportionately angry internet people be funny.

It was amazing to read because I know a ton of those people bitching and saying they'll never support them again were right back in line for the next pastry stout.

Of course they were. I only got hip to it because I was in the middle of a trade with a repeat trader and he suggested I go take a peek.

I find it suspicious that 450N won’t reveal ABV of most recent batch but will on future batches. My inner tin foil hatter wonders if they are changing the process to bring the ABV closer to the 8%/10% to try to minimize fall out.

I agree with you in guessing that they’d feel like they’re saving face more effectively if they raise the abv rather than rebrand those beers with a lower ABV.

I've been to one release. The people there seem to be into sharing NEIPAs and pastry stouts along with these fruited kettle "sours." Honestly, I think it's a ticker culture thing, not much commonality among the styles other than beer that tastes predominantly like other things than beer.

They make pretty good pizza. Their NEIPAs I tend to like probably because I can get them fresher from 450N than I can from anywhere else who makes the style.

What I find ironic is that the actual ABV on these things is more in line with the Berliner style they erroneously claim, unlike the stated 8%.

Like, what even is an 8% Berliner Weiss?

Don’t you know? They’re pushing the boundaries of what beer can be.

Yup that was their solution to “removing the abv”

Drank a Jungle Juice XL last night and loved every drop. We started off with an Answer crowler and it is noticeably potent. You could easily smell and feel the alcohol. The slushee felt practically non alcoholic in comparison.
