I'm not surprised they aren't doing well. There are breweries in the area that make much better beer.
I don't know what allows for a sale instead of just closing though. I guess a brewer could buy the facility and drop the name. I wouldn't think the brand is worth a lot.

I guess not everything is foolproof.... Ugh I am disappointed with myself for not resisting this post. Hopefully he finds a buyer that can make it work.

The entire portfolio wasn't great, especially their foray into NEIPAs. But their Saison and their porter were damn fine.

I was excited when these guys opened 7 years ago (I think) as the likes of Proclamation, Buttonwoods, and Long Live weren't around yet so there wasn't much available locally besides Newport Storm.

I thought the beer was quality but not anything special. Possible exception being the saison. I don't believe I've had anything from them in a few years..complete lack of buzz. So I'm not surprised.

Never really registered with me aside from the highly mediocre peanut butter porter. Had a few of their forgettable IPAs too. As for sale in the market they did a regrettable 4 X 12 oz pack which was a non-starter for most given the marginal quality of their beer.

Sorry for the folks that worked there.

Got a flat 6-pack from them once. Emailed about it and they told me to stop in and they’d replace it. So, I did. And the guy at the counter gave me “low-fills” cause that’s what they gave out for free. So I explained, “Yeah, that’s what I had. Low fill, flat beers”
And he then gave me a proper 6-pack. It was a really shitty experience and I’ve avoided since.
(Might’ve been a 4-pack, it was a few years ago).

I didn't realize they were on the market, but they were a possible stop for my next beer trip as I went through Rhode Island, but to be honest, I decided to skip them once I read on their website that kids aren't welcome anytime other than in the retail line.

I won't even have my kids with me, but the fact they felt the need to spell it out on their website specifically means I have no interest in visiting.

    Your welcome.

You can throw Proclamation in there since it is a very quick detour but I haven't been too impressed with them lately.

    Amazing thanks!

Buttonworks and Long Live look like they are both right on my projecte4d route so they are perfect and look right up my alley.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but wouldn't the website be exactly where you'd want to find out this information? The alternative would seem to be to have to call or to show up with kids and only then find out they're not allowed.

Apologies if I took more from the comment.

My issue is that they specifically disallow kids. Not that it's listed on the website.

I was purposely trying not to start another kids in brewery thread.

No worries. I'm pro-kids-at-breweries so I certainly wasn't trying to dredge that old argument up.

While I’m not in love with absolutely everything this brewery puts out, they have some pretty impressive brews, the Raincloud series comes to mind as some damn good porters. Maybe people won’t take me serious for this opinion (based on previous experiences discussing this brewery with others) but I think their Mango Vango rivals any other sour beer I’ve ever had. Even though it’s a simplistic kettle sour, it is consistently amazing. Perfect balance of fruit and tartness with a bit of funk. I, for one, will be very disappointed if they get bought out and inevitably run to the ground, hopefully the buyer continues business as usual

In my opinion, these (including Proc) are the only breweries in RI that really matter to me. And they're all within a 30 minute radius. You could maybe throw in Grey Sail as well, but I really only drink Captain's Daughter from them at this point.

There are other decent breweries, but I never go out of my way to visit, just if I'm "passing through".
