What's your Average Beer Rating?

3.84, and seems right if my personal view that (4.0 = B+) holds. Now that we know this is our personal average I'm curious if this influences our future reviews.

 

That would be interesting, to see what one's rdev is on average. I have TONS of beers that I'm 0s on, but quite a few where I'm +/- 30%

 

4.05. Sounds about right to me.

 

To keep going, it'd be even more interesting, to me, to see the entire community's amalgamated average rating.

 

I keep a spreadsheet with all my ratings and the rAvg at the time I drank it, so the numbers are not reflective of current ratings. They also consider duplicate ratings, although not many.

Across 885 ratings (since I started tracking in this manner), the rAvg at the time I drank it is 4.29. My average rating of those 885 entries is 4.34, so I'm quite close.

I'd guess that is trending upward, due to drinking better beers.Also, many of them were from growler fills, so they were very fresh.
I'd be curious to see the #s year by year, it were possible to select start/finish dates. (As with my credit union .)
If could go back in time , and review/rate my pre-BA beers, that # would be considerably lower.
3.4-3.6-ish? Wanting to get a better hit/miss ratio is what led me to visit the WBAYDN? thread.

 

If that feature was added, you also would likely want it by style. My rAvg is going to be influenced by styles I tend to like. Just giving me an overall deviation is nice, but it is missing context as I may rate over the mean on some styles, and under the mean on others.

 

3.86, which seems right.

More surprising to me is that I've only rated five beers 4.75 or above. That's a whopping 0.5% of my total reviews. For 4.50 and above it jumps to 29 beers, or 2.7%. Maybe I'm being too harsh on these poor brewers?

 

Based on my small amount of reviews/ratings (70), my average is 3.82. I’d imagine this won’t change all that much with time, maybe it’ll go up a bit

 

3.87 with Imperial stout being my highest style at 4.12.

3.87. I have given some horrible beer a better score than I probably should have. Being self employed I also feel bad giving a struggling brewery an awful review. for the most part i am pretty honest.

 

Now THAT'S the kind of meat and potatoes I like to see.

Any idea what the amount of reviews vs ratings is?

 

3.87 average for me and that's about right. I do my best to rate to style and have never given a single 5 ever
