I get where you're coming from and totally agree, but this is kinda like posting in the Suarez page that this is the year they start making dipas and imperial stouts. It's just not what they do, and I don't blame them for it all. Evil Twin had a nice approach it'd be cool to see OH take where for every 12 or so hype beers they release 1 traditional style. And that's the thing, with 20-something breweries in nyc they probably don't see a need to take up their tank space with a schwarzbier.

Lately there is always Tumbleweeds, crickets, or whatever on. I think they know that any group that shows up probably has someone who wants "beer."

I'll play the 2020 game, here is what I am hoping for
-Reemergence of Dual and Single Hop beers
-Using different hops more often. More experimenting in THIS way, with different combinations they have not brewed before or focus on hops they haven't highlighted as often as others.
-Styles becoming a bit more "traditional" much akin to what @SpinSamzo said with less reliance on absurd adjuncts to sell a beer but rather a great base beer.
-focus on consistency in their barrel program, as most of what I have had thus far is hit or miss.
-The "Beer Fridge" we all have been looking for, with a rotating stock of the classics (DDH Space, DDH ACE, DDH Mylar, Broccoli, ETC) where its not all of these all the time but on any given day you can walk in and some of this will be there to go. Some type of "core" beer rotation with the hope of having multiples of these available regularly in the future.

The realist in me knows likely none of this will happen, but maybe the world will surprise me once again and we can see at least one of these happen.

I was skeptical because none of the triples* have ever fully done it for me. But HDHC More Citra is excellent. Thank you for posting this because I wouldn’t have bought it otherwise

I take that those are more to appeal to marco-lager drinkers than people seeking a wider variety of styles.

I remember a time when the thought of this happening at Tree House would have been crazy and delusional. That day has come. Different situation obviously, but I wouldn't be surprised if this plays out in some form this year.

I think I had one of those but barely remember it. How do they stack up against the better stuff from threes/suarez/grimm?

Also for 2020 is OH distribution going to be somewhat of a thing? I reckon it might

Thats fair, but those same people you describe go on about Qualify Pils being the best beer in the world and all they want to drink ever. I'm bitter cuz I'm #TeamCabana

I don't think I've ever had it. When I go to OH I'm usually getting an ipa and seeing how they still compare to everyone else, or I'm trying a smaller pour of whatever new stout or sour they're slinging(although I'm pretty much out on all of their sours).

I almost got one of the first batches of crickets, but that was a few years ago when it was selling out. Now I'm more likely to pick up from threes, grimm, or et(whose lagers have been very solid), or IA/suarez at random shops they end up at.

So yes it'd be very cool to see OH become more along the lines of hill farmstead, but I don't hate who they are now and wouldn't actually change much if I were them.

I'm psyched to see what the Domino location ends up looking like. I don't really know what I would want from them in 2020. A new plan for a barrel library in Rochester or DC would be cool. More tose-free beer would be nice(which is maybe already here). Lower prices?

I take it we’re talking about their other Brooklyn location and not the pizza chain?

Cabana was great, and what they had cans of when I went over the summer. Even there though they only have like two pilsners on at a time.

Lower prices would be great but when you set the bar at $18 or more for most of your releases there’s no looking back. We’ve already seen increase in a beer cost due to a similar lower ABV one being the same cost as your previous batch. I think $26-$30 4 packs are much closer than any lower costs

All Banana Dreamiest Crunchee Vanilla Anniversary Imperial IPA on deck!
In all seriousness, although I don’t see them adding ESB or Ambers to their weekly can releases any time soon, I do think that they’ve been hearing us out and, as a result, are beginning to stray from the “tose everything to death” approach at least a tiny bit.
In 2020 I believe that we’ll see an increase in straight forward hop bombs without lactose along with the return of the single+dual hop series. They’ll still brew the ridiculously sweet stouts with a ton of unneeded adjuncts as well as the “flavor of the week” crunchees but I think the push back against daydream-ing every other ipa has been heard and they’re realizing that while lactose ipa does have its place, it won’t be replacing straight forward NE ipa juice bombs as the future of the style (Daydreamless sounds like a direct response to that).
What I’d like to see from OH in 2020:
    • More 5-7% hoppy stuff (think Aint Nothin Nice and the return of the single hop series)
    • Year round staples available in cans
    • More canned stouts and less bottles(leading to a decrease in price per oz.)
    • Less adjuncts/sweetness in their stouts
    • Affordable lagers (pipe dream)
    • Saisons/Brett beer (they used to kick ass in this department way back when)

Crazy Talk (bottled brett IPA w/ Kent Falls) was really really good, at least to my palate back a handful of years ago.

I had a few Double Riwakas at the Jeffrey. It was awesome, liked it more than All Riwaka Everything. Shaun Hill is a hop whisperer.

HDHC More Citra is excellent, no triple burn.

You're seriously the first person I've ever seen on #teamcabana. Palatine is the correct choice, BTW.
