A rather frosty morning here, yet sunny. My kind of weather. I was invited to a restaurant for lunch by the in-laws but I politely declined as I was in that same restaurant yesterday evening. Enough restaurants, enough food but not enough beer...

    Cheers...

Good morning, advocates. Being the biggest pro wrestling nerd in the virtual bar, I’ve been up since one AM after a short nap so I could watch the first night of a doubleheader of the biggest weekend of the year in Japanese wrestling. Currently watching Will Ospreay, possibly the best in the industry, go against Hiromu Takahashi, a guy who legit broke his neck in the ring 18 months ago. If you like wrestling, try to watch this match.

Oh, and a New England milkshake style goes great after a Russian Imperial Stout like Marshal Zhukov.

I probably should thank my wife for suggesting I take Friday off, because I doubt I would have stayed up this late after nine hours of taking phone calls and staring at a computer monitor. Main event of the Japanese wrestling show is about to start (Okada’s entrance was one of the best in pro wrestling EVER), and some ‘19 KBS should take me across the five hour plus finish line.

Have a good Saturday. I slept for 12 hours last night and it was amazing. My sleep patterns are a bit wonky, but I am getting more sleep than I ever was before last month. Drinking less has helped out a lot. I got a new 8bitdo bluetooth controller in the mail from amazon yesterday. Going to use it on my side scroller and flight games for sure. It has adjustable sensitivity sticks, buttons, with rumble and 6 axis motion sensor. Not sure how to use the motion sensor yet.

Lagunitas Born Yesterday. Still tasting amazing. Flavors of huge red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate cracker, biscuit, light honeyed malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; balanced bready/grainy malt and sticky/resinous hops in the mouthfeel. Crisp/drying finish and never astringent on bitterness. Amazing juicy, vibrant, dank, and earthy balanced hop profile; with a clean pale malt backbone. Refreshingly drinkable for an IPA. Simcoe, Citra, Mosaic hops this year. Used to have Equiniox for years, but I guess they couldn't find a lot to use?

[IMG] This one courtesy of Mr. @tasterschoice62 pours a very orange with a 2 plus finger sticky off white head that leaves massive thick streaks as it slowly settles. 4.5

Smell melon, mandarin, pineapple, and apricot. 3.75

Taste follows honey dew, orange, pineapple, and apricot. 3.75

Mouthfeel is rather big and sticky, soft and gentle on the palate, and at 8% ABV goes down easy enough. 4.25

Overall this is solid, but once again with this brewery it is lacking that wow factor, I have been waiting to get into a lot of these beers sent from Larry because I have a buddy who I want to share them with and it was canned on 11/07/19, but still just missing something. Cheers all and thanks for the opportunity Larry. 3.75

I started a new game of Super Metroid with my new controller. Works wonderfully, very durable. Never played the game before in my life, but I have the whole SNES collection of ROMs on my external HDD.

The Bruery Bakery: Banana Bread. Fantastic. Great head retention, spotty lacing. Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, banana, walnut, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of coconut, vanilla, molasses, licorice, raisin, fig, date, smoke, char, leather, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Mild herbal, grassy, peppery, roast, char bitterness; fruit tartness; and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full body; very creamy/silky/velvety/bready malts, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky/tannic in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitter/tart/spiciness. Mild increasing warmth of 10.2%, with minimal lingering barrel booze after the finish. Awesome soft feel, and not overly bitter/tart/tannic. Fantastic balance of rich malts, authentic banana/walnut flavors, and bourbon barrel presence/integration; with mild earthy hops and fruity yeast. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. Would buy again. Not overwhelming on any aspect. 4.2

I drink a lot of craft beer and this is a first. The beer in the bottle doesn't match the label. This beer is a chocolate and vanilla pale of some kind. It doesn't match the brewer's description of their own beer in any way. I'm going to email them now. Cheers!

Glad it was good at least. I was hoping that would be the one from Mayflower that might have been different because I had heard good things. Cheers!

Still playing Super Metroid. Definitely going to tap into a lot of ROMs moving forward. Have a lot of PSX ones I wanted to do as well.

Speciation DNAIPA. Incredible Sour IPA. Aromas and flavors of big tart/sour lemon, lime, mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, red/green apple, white grape/wine, peppercorn, pine, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bread dough malts; light musty/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate lactic tartness, Brett Tang; and pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation, medium-plus body, and fairly crisp finishing. Very creamy, bready, grainy malts; some sticky hops, acids/tang; and light resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter/tart/tangy dryness; no pucker/astringency. Very smooth/soft, pretty refreshing, not overly lactic, zero warming 6%. Amazing Denali, Nelson & Azacca profile. Very juicy and fairly dank/earthy hops; balanced Brett/Bacteria complexity; with a great wheat/oat/malt backbone against acidity. Light residual sweetness with crisp dryness. Loved this a lot, got a full pack recently. 4.28

Grūß dich, I bought myself the “Ultimate Bavarian Gift Pack”. With a little judicious mixing  I ended up with the glass, two bottles of hefe dunkel, two bottles of Vitus, and a bottle of original. Yay me!
