Happy new year! Anyone go to the party? I’m curious to know if the Sumi Snow bottles were brewery only. Their post was a little confusing

Their site implies that its available to go, I think they meant they won't be distroing it like the do with a lot of their other bottes.

Anyone who had Sumi Snow care to share thoughts on it? Definitely getting a bottle but may be compelled to get more than one.

I would say try it on tap, I thought it was pretty good but decided to pass on bottles since I wasn’t really wanting more than the 4oz pour I had.

I had both tonight and am enjoying the bottle more than the pour they shared with me from the draft.

It's really nice. It drinks slightly light for 14% (again, what have stouts become?) but definitely has enough body and is super smooth. It has all the barrel character, vanilla, coconut, caramel/toffee, you want in a bourbon barrel aged beer without the char of some other offerings, but a little bit of chocolate still comes out. There's a little bit of booze on the nose, but I don't the beer to be boozy at all.

I'm excited for Hyperfocus Centennial. For as much as people whine about wanting more single hop offerings, you'd think they'd be all over these Hyperfocus cans.

Yea I agree. Makes me think all #OHlocals are really just fronting.

I’m heading to Grimm in 45 mins. Should be there around 230. Cant wait for a CentennIal beer.

Great afternoon at Grimm today. Had the Lithos, Suicide Door, and Sumi Snow. Back at the house with my 4-Pack of Hyperfocus Centennial now. Everything drank super well. Had sips of my wifes orders of Sea of Nectar, Little Thief, Future Days, and Heliogram, and though I was a little less partial to the sea of nectar and heliogram, they all were pretty good as well.

I agree about these Hyperfocus beers. Their great when exploring a newer hop, like when they did Cashmere to help understand what it brings to a flavor profile, but even the classic hops are great to experience in this beer.

But what if OH is really your local place, Billyburg can be such hassel to get to from South Brooklyn.

yeah this was exactly my thought. only takes me marginally longer to drive to Kane as it does taking the subway/walking to Grimm. which is why I rarely go to either

If the weather is nice and the L is working I'll make day trip out of hitting all the L train places. That will be awhile so I grab a can from Threes fridge.

As @Tallerboy mentioned, and fortunately for both of you, the cans do a pretty good job of getting around town!

Lithos is a fantastic dark lager. I had it right after IA Winter Landscape. Really hard to decide which is better.

Haven’t tried HF Centennial yet. That’s on deck for tomorrow.

Had the Sumi Snow, and it stands right now as the best BA stout base made in NYC. As with most Grimm stouts, the body is unimpeachable, and the balance between the mild sweetness and bitter roast notes, with a nice vanilla oak finish, all make this a real standout. Strongly recommend you buy a few bottles (I'm holding one for my birthday in July when the stouts are usually all gone)!
