Whole Foods in Tysons has 6-8 cases of Willetized as well as bottles of regular BCBS and some Aslin beers on tap and BCBS 19, 18, mon cheri, cafe ola, and KBS on tap as well.

Going to be visiting Richmond for the first time in about a week. I won’t have much time (2 days, some of which taken up by other obligations), but I know I want to get to The Veil and The Answer. Any thoughts on which would be better to prioritize? Like, if I find I only have 1 free night, which is the one to hit first? I’m a fan of all styles, so I don’t need to prioritize hazy IPAs etc...though I do love them regardless.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts....

If you go with The Veil, you have several other breweries within blocks to be able to hit.

They’re both nice breweries but Triple Crossing is better across the board than either.

The Answer is inconsistent but if you love fruit bombs and sweet stouts they deliver (their best IPAs were amazing too).

The Veil had a high floor for me but less highlights.

Kind of forgot about Triple Crossing. I've never had any of their beer. I'll try to work that in.

Triple Crossing has a location downtown and a location southwest of the City (Fulton). Neither are *far* from other breweries, but they're not really walking distance. The Veil is near Ardent, Bingo, Väsen, etc etc etc. Scott's Addition has kind of become a brewery district with also some good restaurants (Longoven, Brenner Pass, Supper). The Answer wasn't really on our radar, so we didn't go (I don't like fruit bombs).

FWIW, Triple Crossing makes better IPAs than The Veil IMO.

FYI BA classified Richmond as South Atlantic.

Strictly beer wise I'm going to also recommend Triple Crossing. They're the best brewery in Richmond IMO. For an overall experience of food/beer The Answer wins hands down. The food is amazing and being able to sample all of the fruited sours and randalled stouts is really fun. Plus their "standard" beers like their IPAs are very good as well. The Veil makes phenomenal beer, and like others has said is walking distance to some other great breweries. But between the "Big Three" (Answer, Veil, Triple Crossing) they're my least favorite.

This is about all you need to know imo. The Veil typically has the best to-go selection though.

All the RVA brewery specific threads (Answer, Veil, TC, etc) have been in the South Atlantic forum for quite a while.

Yeah, I meant to type an "s" instead of a "d". I didn't mean to imply that this was a recent development. BA (going against the Census Bureau geographical classifications) classifies anything from Virginia as "South Atlantic", meaning even NoVA brewery threads from Aslin, Ocelot, etc. goes there.

Dumb and very specific question - has anyone seen Oxbow's Sap Haus lingering at any liquor store?

Diamondback's Gone Till November is one of the best shelf NE IPAs I've had in a while. I don't know who all got it, but CBC H St has it in their cooler.

May want to check Hop Cask and Barrel in Georgetown — they often have a big selection of Oxbow bottles.

WF Clarendon has Hardywood KCM and BB GBs on tap along bottles of the BCBS vert ($50), ‘19 BCBS, and Mon Cherri ($23) on the shelf. Lots of 4 packs of KBS. Abraxas sold out.

Do you have any insight on why they stopped updating their Untappd?
