I rarely drink HB but had my first can of theirs with that zipper feature the other night. I couldn't get it to work so I asked the wife to give it a try since she has longer nails than I do. She quickly gave up and used a knife to get it open. We'll see if I have better results with the next few!

I for one would be happy to pay 5-10 cents more per can to have something more sustainable if that is what the issue is. I get slick packaging is more marketable on the shelves, but...my beer purchase are based on what is in the package, not what is on the outside...I get that might not be the case for the neophyte craft drinker who is exposed to thousands of options. As a society we are going to pay for it one way or another whether that is up front at the purchase or years down the road with environmental issues/leaching ground water/etc.....

Agreed, and a big bonus if you can make it easier to recycle for someone lazy-as-shit (but who recycles) like me.

So even if a can has a sticker label, that should be removed before being recycled?

Correct. I've been doing this for a while now ever since my local brewery got contacted by a recycling company about it. Be careful though, I've had a few cans rip open while peeling that sticker label off. The wrapped ones with the zip like HB don't always come off easily either. One of these days I'm going to cut myself doing this.

Good to know, thank you! Always just carelessly just throw them in the recycling...but I’d like to do my part as much as I can.

    Huh...The more you know.

Never considered the issue with recycling the wrapped cans. Good to know.

I'm no saint, there's definitely a point of no return where I've consumed enough and I'm all, "Screw this."

My biggest downfall is with what the product contains. I won’t recycle a can if a I can’t rinse/clean it. Not really a concern for the winter, but when it is hot, I don’t want to attract bugs (so cleaning is a must). The cans that do not clean well (for me) are the large dog food cans (15oz). I am guilty of throwing those away instead of cleaning and recycling at times. Wet cat food is normally real easy. They are smaller though.

I get those cleaned; and recycled. but, hey, I'm the bad guy.

The event was well attended at the brewery, they put out some quality snacks (pretzel chips, cheese dip and solid cookies). Legal Hero is an excellent Dank IPA offering, on par with Modern Times' offerings. Aroma and taste balance, fruity (citrus, pine, grapefruit), dankness, sweetness balanced by mild bitterness.

Thank you, @dukeandduke for the good info and for using the Revolution thread to discuss Revolution (you know, beers and events - not parenting and recycling).
The Brewpub shows Legal Hero is still available, and my only concern about picking some up is keeping myself from also picking up more Ryeway, VSOD, DT, SJ, etc...)

The fact that Ryeway and VSOD are still available just blows my mind.

I still haven't tried Legal Hero, as I've been trying to be better about eating and drinking so much. But, it looks like Saturday is somewhat of a cheat day, so maybe I will find a way over to the brewpub and hope it's on tap still.

Remove sticker prior to opening the can. Can is way more sturdy before the seal is cracked
