I'll be doing some consulting for a customer in Vernon, and wondering what is the what are the closest spots after work. Am I best served to just head north towards Mumford Brewing? Emphasis is on less time driving as these will be long days.

Mumford is cool, and downtown is your closest part of town with good beer. But most people would probably steer you towards Highland Park brewery in Chinatown, or Modern Times.

Yeah, I'm almost thinking doing one night in downtown since Modern Times and Mikkeller are so close to each other. I've done Mumford & Angel City before, but given the wonder of LA traffic it might be the closest option.

MT all the way. They have their public sale this Saturday so you might even be able to grab a few good bottles...

I’d still consider going to HPB. Chinatown is essentially the north side of downtown. It’s a real quick jaunt from Modern Times. One other thing to consider is that all the food at MT is vegan, while HPB has both veg and non-veg options. And the food at HPB is really good.

MT, Mikkeller, HPB Chinatown and Eight Bar (Whole Foods) in DTLA.

Border X is in Bell. I only went once when they opened and wouldn't recommend them, but they are an option. Only mentioning them because they'll probably show up when looking at nearby options. Again, highly recommend the DTLA destinations.

Mikkeller is fairly pricy and may not be worth it, fair warning.

Understood. Its low hanging fruit though, given I do want to go to MT which is right there. I'll be in San Diego next month any their bar in Little Italy is close to my hotel if I decide to skip it.

Yea i get the proximity, I would just suffer the 10m drive/uber to go to HPB after MT.

If you go at the right time, State Brewing in Gardena and The Cellar in Whittier aren't that hard to make it to. Both have good to great stuff.

I'll second State if you want to check out a brewery outside of DTLA.

Your priority should be Highland Park, Mumford, and Modern Times DTLA

But after visiting them, if you want some variety, Border X is fine as a neighborhood-level brewery, although it helps if you like horchata stout. More importantly, Border X is about 5 blocks from one of the best Mexican restaurants in LA County, La Casita Mexicana, so you can consider that a beer + foodie outing.

In the alternative, if you like sours Dry River Brewing is the closest downtown LA brewery to Vernon

Indie Brewing is literally across the street from Dry River, so if you stop by one you may as well hit up both.

But don't, and just spend more time at HPB and MT.

Don't go to Indie or Dry River, they will leave you with a bad taste of LA breweries. HpB and MT is the way to go.

    Chinatown or the hermosillo?

Answer determines which food related questions you'll get from others lol
