I'm pretty sure there was a thread about good seasonals but maybe there should be one to warn others away.

Last night I went to our new craft beer bar in town called The Tap (clever huih?). 50 beers on tap and, of course, I've already had most of them so I tried a Naughty Claus by New Albanian. This was one of the worst beers I have ever had. It tasted like the palest ale ever and then someone dumped in an insane amount of cinammon. I'm still tasting it this morning.

This beer isn't listed to be reviewed and I don't have 20 official reviews so I can't add it either. Stay away.

The vast majority*: of pumpkin beers, Christmas beers, and other winter warmers (which generally don't suck as unrelentingly hard as Christmas beers, but are underwhelming in their own right). Also, it's not that (mai/ur/doppel)bocks in the winter and spring suck, or fall-seasonal brown ales for that matter, so much as they usually just kind of bore me.

But pumpkin beers and Christmas beers can, for the most part, burn in a fiery beer hell.

*I say that because I'll never rule out an entire style and rare examples always will pop up, on occasion.

I'm a bigtime Pumpkin beer fan, and will drink any of them. I'm trying to be an equal opportunity Christmas beer drinker, but some just don't do it for me. I'll probably get tarred and feathered for saying this, but....to me, Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale is an abomination of vile proportions.

Fireside Chat. Not a fan at all. It does make a pretty good beer can chicken though.

Many of the "pumpkin" beers I've had this year should've just been called "nutmeg" beers.

I had my first one a few weeks back and it's not bad but it's insanely hyped/praised for how it actually tastes.

THIS I will agree with. I've got that sense quite a bit while tasting as many as I could in the short time they are on tap around me.

Count me in the "pretty much all seasonals suck" group. Fruit flavors, spices, yadayada---no thanks. I'm basically a Reinheitsgebot kinda guy when it comes to choosing beers to drink.

I think lagunitas makes a seasonal that sucks, even they admit it on the bottle.

But in all reality, any brown ale esp the christmas spiced brown something or another are truely awfull.
