Is anyone going to Founder's Night on Thursday 11-29? I haven't been to the Brooklyn Barcade so I'm wondering how it gets on special nights like this.

It gets crowded later on towards 8PM but the space is quite large and they are pretty good at handling large crowds. There is so much good stuff being tapped that I think the majority will last the night. Its definitely worth a visit.

I'm very much looking forward to it. I plan on being there from early on in the afternoon (2-3pm) so I have time to hit everything I want in that tap list.

They don't open until 4pm (the gate will be half down) so if you are there early, you'll need to kill some time. Great food options in the neighborhood though.

Forgot about that, last time I was there was for the anniversary party (for which they opened at 2pm). Any specific recommendations for food in the area?

Yea, they opened earlier for their anniversary. A little bit of a walk but Pies 'n' Thighs across the BQE on S4th has a great chicken biscuit dipped with honey and hot sauce. For pizza, Forcella a block away on Lorimer for Neopolitan style but Carmine's by the train station isn't bad for your everyday by the slice place. I also like Le Barricou on Grand St. for French bistro type food. For French crepes and pasta, I would recommend Pates et Traditions, just right across the BQE.

Not opened that early. He can stumble in afterwards...

I assumed he was asking for recommendations for food that was opened before the event. Fette Sau is great but can get pretty crowded on a Thursday night. St. Anselm across the street (same owners as Fette Sau and Spuyten Duyvil) is great for a sit down place as well.

I'm here now. Got here a little after 6. Got a glass of bolt cutter. The tapping of CBS was a bit ridiculous. I've never seen people beg for beer. It was honestly like a depression era bread line or something. They opened the tap and basically never closed it. Took exactly 8 minutes to kick. I was maybe 3 bodies back from the bar. Did not get a glass.... Oh well. Plenty of great stuff on tap.

Haha yeah it was pretty funny. I just stood back and watched. They handled it really well.

yup, enjoyed my bolt cutter and left. Not much you can do with that many people, not enough servings in a sixtel.

Got there right at four today and had a great time. I don't envy the bartenders who had to dole out CBS, I'm just glad that I got a glass, and that when my group ended up with an extra we were able to pass it along to another patron who had been there since opening.

Actually the best beer of the night might have been The Blushing Monk which was tapped at 8pm but it also did not last more than 9 mins. I was fortunate to get a glass. Great night and I do feel for the bartenders a bit.

Wow. That might be a new record. I went to a Founders event at The Gate earlier this year and it took 19 minutes to kick and managed to get a glass. It kicked at Blind Tiger a few weeks later in 15 minutes, and I did not get a glass. They also had an event at Downtown Bar and Grill which no one must have known about, because I went there with a friend and the place just had a normal crowd. Were able to drink KBS, CBS, and even BCBS that night. It was a good night...

That Gate event was very well run. The event at Downtown Bar and Grill was amazing. There was no one there. I think I had 3 or 4 glasses of CBS and a glass of KBS before the CBS was tapped. Suffice to say I was lit. haha
