Carton Brewing (2020)

Would you mind telling someone to have a chat with the kind gentleman who manages ShopRite Cherry Hill's inventory?

I can understand price cuts for out-of-date beer, but they're asking like $12 for four packs of Unjunct from 2017 (I'm sure it still drinks okay but nearly full price for 3 year old stout seems kinda wrong). They're also still pushing Light & Sweet, SS 2019, Brut Puncher as well as lots of old Boat and 0dub from a very long time ago. They still get in new stuff (Epitome) and keep that kinda stuff in the cooler, but it seems like they just don't really bother selling what they already have in inventory before ordering more. They do a good job in general but they just seem to over-purchase everything for some reason.

 

Light and sweet was still damn good 3 weeks ago. I'd honestly be tempted to pick it up if my local place has any.

 

I saw old stuff at Cranbury buy rite as well including the SS2019 from August that Augie suggested I might like better with some age on it (see earlier post on this page). Wonder if the "only sell fresh" rules, whatever they are, only apply to certain beers?

 

If they sold singles I'd definitely try a slightly-aged SS 2019 to see how it's doing but I've been burned on old IIPA/DIPA so many times that I have zero plans paying $16 for a full four pack.

Ah, that's great news. Last I had it I thought the coffee was starting to fade a bit. I'll have to revisit it. They still have Basic Coffee too, which is still amazing (obviously)

 

This is why I only got the Monkey, which turned out to be a mistake based on the one can I got. It was a gamble I was willing to take on Monkey. I never get enough of it when it releases.

 

Well I did buy some year old BDG a couple weeks ago and it was as fucking amazing as ever so it’s not like their beers don’t hold up. It really depends on the style and what you’re looking for in that style.

Something special to Augie and I would guess a lot of the type of drinkers Carton would attract, so I won't steal his thunder. I'm excited for it.

 

You always have to check canning dates, even at the brewery. Was kind of bummed to find out that the 4-packs of The Hook I picked up last weekend were three months old. Should have checked before I left Carton but that’s the first time it’s ever happened.

I have no idea where you’re getting your intel but this description makes me very excited. Now let’s hope it’s a flagship beer that sees distro.

big Cosmonaut fan, but i was so convinced today would be an Irregular Coffee, when i saw the insta post, I thought it was "Coffeenaut" which i guess would be a coffee with the flavor of freeze dried ice cream? ... now i want that too. I'm ready for a Carton collab with Carton.

 

The Citra/Mosaic beer sounds great. Hemming and hawing on whether or not to make the drive. Feeling unmotivated today. Wonder if it’ll end up in stores.
