Revolution Brewing (2020)

Champaign got the preview party downstate tonight. Cuvee is a masterpiece of BA blending IMO. If no one told you it was a combination of those 6, very different, varying complexity of beers, you'd never know it. The smoothness of this beer(?) is really impressive. X was also very good. I'm not a huge cherries in my beer person, but this is well done. Definitely leans sweet. The comparison of VSOJ with cherries is fairly accurate. Both are strong offerings.

Rev has many things to be proud of with respect to their barrel program, and these beers are just another part of that impressive portfolio.

Thank you all a bunch for the early reviews, much appreciated. Sounds like I am missing out on some very good beers but nothing extraordinary like a VSOJ caliber beer. Makes my FOMO a bit less although after a week of eating only liquids and soft foods, I could use alcohol of any variety.

 

I'm sure the draft-only stuff will be sick as hell, but at least you can grab 10 Year in distro hopefully.

Ten year is awesome. My favorite. Love how the cherry is integrated. It is very subtle. If you like code switch, this is in that same vein. The cuvée is pretty good but I’m looking forward to revisiting it in the cans. The VSOR is amazing! Such a nice surprise to drive into town and it’s on tap.


FYI: if you’re coming to Bitter Pops for cuvée or ten year, the bartender said both were close to kicking.

 

Yeah, I was on mobile at a family function so I was too lazy too expand on my thoughts, but that's what I really liked about Ten Year; it kind of adds to the barleywine in an interesting way, but isn't in your face like the "Deth by ___ " series. It's the sort of fruit beer I'd drink if I weren't really in the mood for a BA fruited beer (which is pretty frequently the case). I think Cuvee is something I'd like to try again with a lot more time to drink it; I only had about a half hour before my family was going to yell at me for being late for dinner.
