Last summer (2019) I found some Weyerbacher Blithering Idiot in the 'Dusty & Old discounted beer' part of the local beer store for $1/12oz bottle! It was dated 1/27/17 so at two and a half years old I can see why it was in that section, but the bottle itself says the enjoy by date is 1/27/22 (it's a barleywine after all). I bought one to bring home and try and it was amazing! Next day I went straight back and took all they had left, probably 10 or so bottles. I still have two left  Best aged beer gem I've ever found!!!

I got a four pack of Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout that was three years old once. that was a good day! I've also picked up Anchor Winter Wheat quite a few years in a row from a nearby place called Downtown Produce that were each a year old. They sell it for half price since it's "out of date". Woohoo!

I keep seeing North Coast Barrel aged Old Stock on the Chicago land area shelves and these are some of the best barrel aged old ales out there in my opinion. They drink great fresh & can easy cellar for 8 to 12 years before off flavors develop.

2013 bourbon old stock is the oldest that I have seen. Price point keeps them on the shelf.

Ya north coast is the odd brewer with great pricing on their regular beers and borderline absurd prices on any BA stuff

How does BA Old Stock stack up to your old Rasputin value rating?!

Well its not technically covered since its not a stout but i can tell you that ba old Rasputin doesn't measure up. Its super tasty (especially the rye barrel) but not 6-7x as good as regular.

Ahhhh my bad- forgot the system evaluates stouts only...

Agreed though- there’s no way the BA old Rasputin is 6-7x better than the regular

That beer ages really well in my experience. Enjoy!

I ended up buying the four they had left, and I agree. I've still got one that I'm saving for one of those special occasions that never seems to come.

Found a 4 pack of 2014 Samichlaus for a decent price. I've had the Helles version, curious as to how these will taste.

Found this guy from 2014 at the store. Do you folks think this one would have held up well or am I better off going with something fresher?

I felt like I robbed a bank today. The best local beer store in my area is closing out their massive inventory of 750mL Bruery bottles.

    - '15 Mash
    - '16 Mash Vanilla
    - '16 Melange 14
    - '17 Melange 3

$4.99 each. Why did I buy so few?!?

Picked up a 2008 JW Lees Harvest Ale and a 2016 Avery Anniversary Ale Twenty Three today. The Harvest Ale was intentional, of course, but I didn't realize the age of the latter until I put it in the cellar fridge. Hopefully having brett will help with the aging of a dark saison. For whatever reason the place where I got it had an old Avery The Kaiser Imperial Oktoberfest years ago which tasted much worse than fresh so hopefully this will be a better experience.

There's a bottleshop near me that's selling a ton of old Bruery stock, they have 2012 through 2018 Black Tuesday for 30 bucks a bottle regardless of year. Don't think I've ever had a BT older than '16, trying to convince myself to go back and pull the trigger.

Did you get it and have you tasted any? I was a bit disappointed with one I opened during lockdown, might've been a bit older than that but not by many years.

Found some 2012 Orval at a place that definitely should not have been stocking Orval. Bought a 2020 later in the day. Stoked to do a side by side.

Anyone know how old the Vermontoise HF collaboration is? Found a place that has it well stocked and I seem to be the only one buying
