    Opaque dark brown body topped with an immensely rich and dense khaki colored head; rocky and sculpted. Incredibly rich aroma comprised of dark roasted and charred grains; coffee-like; cocoa. The taste follows along the lines of the aroma; bitter. Heavy body yet seems a bit light for the style; oily and silky on the palate but also with a fairly dry finish.

    What a delight to find a straightforward stout with no crazy adjuncts or wild-ass barrel aging (not that such things aren't good and appreciated!). A fantastic beer for a cool winter day...

    ...and what a fine day so far...just got a bunch of vinyl in the mail from various sources (primarily jazz)...have a Mosaic Records Hank Mobley box set on order today and also ordered a vinyl version of Eric Dolphy's "Berlin Concerts" (which I've had on cassette and CD for ages)...

    I don't know about you, but I prefer Blind Pig over Pliny the Elder (although a world class beer itself and one I always pickup when available)...
