    ...evening's setting in and the 'Fortress of Solitude' starts exuding my kind of lighting....an old kerosene lantern from the Mansfield, OH Street Dept (it's stamped on the lantern) and the warming glow of a propane heater...too bad I already had a stogie today...and Fleetwood Mac's 'Future Games' is doing its bluetooth musical magic through the 'Fortress'' sound system...

    Canned 01/14/20.
    Moderate pour yields a 1/2 inch slightly off white head over a cloudy light golden body with some sticky lacing. Nose of sweet citrus including orange and tangerine. Taste mirrors nose with a bit of dank pine on the finish. Nice feel and overall, a lot of flavor in this 5.8%er. Cheers to the boys up the road in Hyde Park, VT!

    Recently I've been noticing the beers from really good brewers -- well, their pale ales and India pale ales specifically -- do well way past the month or so age criteria that many folks look for.

    And I'm talking about Maine Beer Co.'s 'Peeper' and 'MO' plus Russian River's 'Blind Pig'.

    And I admit that fresher versions are better, but when you can enjoy a Peeper or Pig at nearly nine months and they still taste better than many others, well, I'll keep buying that shit...I love some NEIPAs and cloudy IPAs, but, my god, if they age (assuming they're well crafted to begin with)...well, it's just not my thing...

    Good afternoon folks! Just getting started here, finishing off the rest of that growler of Reuben's Azacca Crush from yesterday. It was pretty low carbonation to begin with now it's just plain flat.... but there are NO drain pours in this house!!! Bottoms up!

    I'd say I'm doing well (or good).

    Retirement is nice (especially when the old boss asks you to come back if even for a few hours to supervise some grunt workers (i.e., a semi-full of birdseed that needs unloading), I seem to be fit (another i.e., - I'm kicking ass at the Peterson AFB fitness center with the cardio and resistance machines - doesn't mean I'm 'healthy', but more than holding my own for a frickin' old fuck for endurance and strength), no money worries, my wife hasn't left me, my dog still loves me, and old jazz vinyl records keep being delivered to my doorstep by USPS...and my shooting and handloading chops are still going strong...and then there's the beer scene in Colorado Springs...no obvious liver damage yet...

    So, for a cranky old fart, I have nothing to complain about...
