Egos & nepotism sounds like something brewed by Tired Hands or maybe HF.

I bet if you asked ten people at NS how they liked their job on a given day, five would say it's the best and five would say it's the worst. And ask the same ten people the next day, you'd probably have people giving the opposite answer as the day before. Kinda how it shakes out in high growth companies.

That said, feels like a more proper mantra for NS would be Craft More Better. From an outsider's view they're hyper commercialized and focused on growing anywhere and in any way possible. Probably not the same place as it was four years ago - some folks grow with or up with a company, and some just grow out.

Wow, are we even going to get a boston.com story out of this thread? I’m disappointed...

Is there an internal email going around Night Shift inquiring about banjo players?

Thanks to everyone who assumed that I was a "he", says a lot about our industry. Also thanks to everyone that suggested that I go to my manager or HR before venting here. The point of my post was that my manager had been bullied out of her role and HR was complicit in this shitty behavior. When you see your manager go to HR with a sensitive professional challenge (she feels like a founder is treating her unprofessionally) and then witness HR sneak around digging up dirt to undermine her...kinda makes you not trust the system. Same thing happened with our coffee bar manager. She was an experienced professional who was forced out when she raised concerns directly to HR about leadership behavior towards her. Its ok though, seems we all agree that important people can treat us humans whatever way they want and the then spew out "we are a family" and "open door policy" as a defense. Over and out.

Like pretty much all of us on here, I have no idea what’s true and what isn’t. I’ve met Rob and he was a nice guy.

But I fully agree that the “we’re a family” or “family owned” defense is a load of crap and I cringe every time I see it. Trillium and 450 North pulled the same thing when they got exposed.

It does, same sort of thing as calling an unknown nurse, she. It says people notice that most of the brewery workers they see are men, most of the nurses they see are women.

Get over yourself, I believe there was 1 person who replied in this thread and referred to you as 'he' (post 15). Assuming you are a male shouldn't be surprising, not many women on this forum and your username is ambiguous.

You were better off not posting here, kind of making yourself look guilty on some level.

It seems you just want to come on here and vent like a 5 year old child. Certainly your right, but makes you look like disingenuous and vindictive. In reading all comments I cannot find one that is not reasoned and within the parameters of reality. If you choose to see it otherwise than that is your choice. Good luck in your future, hopefully you find a job that is more to your liking.

Yup, I checked this myself as well. Just one post.

The next step would be to post your criticisms on a website like Glass Door. And then after that, if you felt the incidents were more serious is to take legal action.

Moreover, what specifically happened? The story is very vague. The whole Trillium incident blew up because specific incidents were mentioned, and were corroborated both on this site and websites like Glass Door.

What were the concerns? Many of us I'm sure have worked in corporate environments and know there can be two sides to a story and/or certain situations can be perceived differently by different people.

Funny, I assumed you were female. Also assumed banjo player was a reference to Deliverance (nepotism sarcasm). No idea on truth of your comments, but as others suggested, it's kind of vague and as others suggested, I would def post on GlassDoor.

I will say that I do know 2 women that left Night Shift on pretty bad terms and they have nothing good to say about owners/management.

If you look at reviews of any business from the customer side, there's always someone claiming that they're the absolute worst. They lied to me, cheated me, insulted me, etc. There's no business so perfect that they don't get at least a few of those. If it's three of those out of 500 reviews, whatever. If it's 50 out of 500, you're a little worried. One unhappy employee doesn't necessarily prove anything, but it does lend a little more credibility to future complaints, if there are any.

Regardless of how true it is or not, it is at least how you feel, and if that is how you feel then that's a bummer and certainly shouldn't be discounted because of others experience with Rob. Sorry to hear that your experience has given you that impression of the business.

The problem is venting online isn't going to get you anywhere. Try to imagine your ideal endgame (99% of the time it won't be found on a forum) before posting anything because you are always going to get contrarians and people who weren't in your position to see what you see.

I wish you best of luck in your future endeavors and hope you find a career you can thrive in!

Speaking as someone who left this company a little while ago, this feedback is 100% accurate.Just because people don't speak out on public forums about abuse and mistreatment by a company doesn't mean it isn't happening. The staff that work there are wonderful people. The brewers are extremely talented and good people. The beer is delicious. This doesn't mean that the leaders haven't been white knuckling to keep control over the public narrative and what their staff says - even in private. It's scary to speak against an organisation that holds as much weight as NSB does in the industry. They're basically craft beer sweethearts! The original poster may have been, like many of us, wanting people to actually know what's happening behind the golden curtain. They used to be good guys, and many of us wrote off the vicious emails and undermining behavior as stress due to insane growth. However, it gets to a point where that's just who they are. I encourage who ever wrote the original post to get out of there. There are better opportunities elsewhere with better leadership.
