Fox Farm is Salem, CT. Fantastic ipas, sours, and even a world-class barleywine in a bucolic New England environment.

Red Oak from Whittsett NC, definitely not the volume on a bigger brewery like Old Mecklenburg. First rate German beers from a classically trained brewer. It’s all they do.

Final Gravity flies under the radar when everyone talks about Answer/Veil/Triple Crossing in RVA. Granted the last 3 are great, but Final Gravity is up there too.

Most breweries in NJ aren't well known outside of the state. The 3 best local to me are, Twin Elephant, Magnify and Conclave.

They cover all the bases. Last time I was there, German, British and Belgian beer styles were all represented and executed well. That would normally be enough to please but in addition, they had wild ales, ciders, meads, braggots, and American hops. Quite a few barrel aged versions of the above mentioned.

I thought of physically hidden ones - way back in a business park, everything else by it close at 5 pm, hardly any foot traffic, the Uber driver doesn't believe that's where they're supposed to pick you up. Perhaps that describes a lot of them, though. I was thinking of Thirsty Nomad in Charlotte and Brice's in Garner, NC (which just closed unfortunately, and I think being tucked away and nobody knowing where it was was part of it).

I'm from the Philly suburbs and there are several hidden gems around here. I'll just point out:

    Round Guys in Lansdale
    Free Will In Perkasie
    Track Three in Dresher

Wyndridge Farm Brewing west of Philly. They make several excellent beers. My favorite is their incredible BA Imperial Stout...certainly a contender with BCBS, Parabola, etc.
