Thought I’d kick off the Anaheim thread for the year, as I’ll be heading that way soon enough. Maybe some Disney & convention-goers will find this useful. ... and at some point Modern Times Anaheim will open, too!

As per usual, drop suggestions, updates, etc in the comments.

I’m commenting on my own thread here to ask two questions:

Out of the usual recs (Bruery, Bottle Logic, Green Cheek, Noble, ...?) what’s the best (?) place to watch the Super Bowl, and the best (?) place to avoid it?

Imo best place(brewery) to watch any sporting event now would be Brewery X. Huge facility, with one of the rooms being dedicated to TVs and a separate bar for that room. I think Heritage BBQ is going to be there for SB Sunday too. BL has 2 TVs but is too tiny inside, The Bruery has a TV but it’s not in a central location of the tasting room.

Noble is never worth visiting so is the best place to avoid it. I couldn't really imagine watching a SB at any of the places mentioned due to having a crowd that largely is indifferent to the game, but the Brewery X suggestion isn't bad. Several places usually go out of their way not to show the game, so I'd start by confirming which locations will have it on. Bruery might not be bad if you are at the bar.

I definitely gotta agree with the brewery x suggestion - the place is massive

BrewX. As @562Brew mentioned, the room with huge tv’s will prob be your best bet. As those who chose not to watch SB will hang in their other area’s.

Thanks for the range of options, folks!

As an aside, since I don't keep up with the SoCal/OC scene it took me a while to realize all the chatter last year around Brewery X really meant ...a place called Brewery X, and not some sort of allusion to a new and mysterious place.

A semi-related suggestion: Honeypot Meadery on La Palma.

    A) They sport a mega sized TV - 100", 120", 200" - whatevah, really big.

    B) Have to say, HPM makes some tasty beverages.

Every time I have been there, there has been some pretty decent grub in a tent setup just outside the front door. And if you're Jonesing for suds, All-American Ale is next door.

Another question, how is the Beachwood satellite location at the food trucks... er, shipping container pavilion in Garden Grove?
(Shipping containers are the new food truck I suppose.)

It’s not Anaheim proper but it looks close, and with lots of options in the general vicinity for a group to choose from. (Plus—Beachwood! At least I’ll be happy.)

It’s a neat place to hang out with friends. Corn hole is set up, and there‘s big screen for whatever game is going on at the time in the middle of the searing area. Plenty of variety with beachwood beers, plus crowlers, growlers and cans to go.

lots of food options on the semi-pricey side but you know what you’re getting into when you goto a spot like this.

Going to be at Disney land in near future. Beachwood at Garden Grove looks to be super close. Taplist seems extensive too. Can you do tasters / flights and cans / crowlers to go? From reading reviews on yelp seem to indicate issues with those but perhaps they are wrong or dated.

There’s a new taproom around the corner from Noble at Sunkist and Howell called Red Beards. 40 taps with a lot of beers from SD and OC that other places don’t typically get. They’ve been open about 2 months now. Their tap list is on untappd. Lots of TVs too.

They have cans and crowlers for sure. Didn’t check but I don’t see why they wouldn’t do flights. The tap list is on their website. They mainly just have the core offerings though. Not as good of a list as HB or LB.

It’s like container park in downtown Las Vegas but you Just order at the counter. Can’t go inside.

Cool thanks. Trying to plan my Disney trip as going to be 1-2 days where I’ll be free from the fam to hit up some breweries and taprooms. Will have a car. Mainly into hazies, stouts, barleywines, lagers and west coast IPAs. No sours. Have to be able to get 4oz or 5oz small pours.

Red Beards taplist looks good, lot of Riip which i love their stuff. That and Beachwood at Garden Grove are super close. I’ve done Green Cheek, Bruery, Bottle Logic before, looking to try something new. I may grab cans / bottles at Mr K’s on the way in tho as that’s always a good stop.

I was debating driving to Riip or Beachwood Huntington (only been to Long Beach location before) or new Green Cheek spot in old Barley Forge location. Or I’ve never gone to Unsung, not sure it’s worth a stop tho. I guess my game plan now is Red Beard’s, Beachwood at Garden Grove and then maybe go over to Riip one day taplist depending. Anything I’m ignoring in the area worth a stop?

Brewery X is a cool spot. Huge and gets packed on weekends but they have 3 bars. The beers are good but nothing amazing so far. Normally 2-3 food trucks and live music.

I'm down there every Feb for a hockey tournament. We hit up Unsung a couple times last year. Cool space, solid beers. Nothing mind blowing, but IMO worth a stop. The packing district across the street has tons of great food as well.

    OK, I’ll be that guy.

I’ve had upwards of sixteen of their beers this month and not a clinker in the bunch. All true to style and zero flaws detected.

In my opinion, the beers have been well above-average to spectacular.

I agree. They do a lot of classic styles (WCIPA, Lagers, Pils, etc.) very well. I could see how they don't get tons of hype since they're not pumping out the adjunct stouts, fruited sours etc. but I think that's refreshing considering the other breweries around them don't do much of those. Plus venue itself makes it worth the visit.
