I know I’ve mentioned this once or twice before - but that place holds a special place for me. Took the train up with three friends to Poughkeepsie a few years ago - did a monster 125 mile ride in the Catskills. Was bonking my brains out for the last 20 miles. Got to this place and was packed. Thought we weren’t going to get seated. But a manager/owner was clearly also a cycling fanatic - took us round the side - showed us his own bikes and let us store ours beside the tanks. Made room for us at the bar. Obviously the ~3500 calorie deficit I had going on played a part, but was a stand out meal for me and good beers.

Similarly last summer we did the Hudson Valley Bike Tour (bikenyc). Admittedly much less miles, but a lot for me (primarily a runner). Hit here for post meal and enjoyed everything. A bonus is that its 10 minutes from Plan Bee.

RELEASING MERKEL 2019: MONTMORENCY ‘DARK’ THIS FRIDAY (Jan. 24th) //
Hi everybody. Please join us this coming Friday as the fruit beers keep rolling out here at the brewery! Our first cherry beer release from the 2019 harvest is montmorency cherries aged with a higher abv and dark base beer (our general store Biere de garde inspired ale) for a #goodlongwhile. I personally believe that cherries are the perfect fruit to make fruit beer with—expressing acid, tannin, pit richness, ‘juiciness’ and vinous characteristics in equal measure.... montmorency has consistently proven to be my favorite variety. I am ecstatic to be able to offer this up to the beer drinking public and share with you all the magic of legit cherry beer. Not brewed with gimmicks or bullshit ingredients—this is the real, good stuff. Notes of toasted brioche, blood orange, cherry fruit leather, marzipan cookie dough, sumac, berry lemonade, a racy light bodied Jura red wine. Snappy yet contemplative....god, I love cherries. Limit 4 bottles per person. #realfruitbeer

Really excited for this. This bigger and darker version of Merkel sounds fantastic.

Looking to travel down to Suarez from Hudson, anyone know if Uber / Lyft is going to be workable or recommend any Hudson cab firms? Would prefer to avoid the drive

I imagine there would be no problem with ubering from Hudson to Suarez - it’s only 15 minutes. However, can’t speak for the cost.

Bizarrely Uber app from here shows no vehicles available in Hudson, can't tell if it's one of those weird black hole towns where they just don't need cabs or what

Having a glass of River (Czech Dark Lager) at Three’s right now and it’s incredible. These guys absolutely kill the dark lager style(s).

They're pretty good about keeping the website up to date. The fruited beers usually stick around for a week or two.

Can confirm multiple options (Qualify, Proclivity) that were there when I was at Saturday open are no longer reflected on the site.

To be fair, I grabbed the last 4-pack of Qualify on Saturday late afternoon (unfortunate as I was hoping for two!) so seems the site was updated to reflect that.

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I'll be hitting up Suarez this weekend, can anyone recommend any other decent breweries close by? Sad that Sloop closed their location up there. So far I've noticed Crossroads and Subversive are in nearby Catskill. Thanks in advance.

I stopped in Catskill about 3 weeks ago after Suarez and Submersive was not open (Friday afternoon). Looked like they were moving locations. Don’t know anymore than that.

I stopped at Crossroads and was not impressed by the beers. Just bc I am a sucker I bought a bottle of their BA Imp Stout. I opened it that night and it was completely flat.

Trust me - spend all your $ at Suarez.

Stayed in a place a 10 min drive from West Kill when we were snowboarding/skiing last winter and I really liked everything I had on tap there!
